I finally got around to reading that article. It was really interesting, thank you!

Each culture had strayed very little from their ancestral roots.”

Really interesting point and makes a lot of sense. As someone who loves animals and is appalled by how they are farmed and slaughtered generally, I am not a fan of the meat industry, but this does make me think that I should make an effort to find humanely sourced animal products whenever possible.
