I’ve been full Keto for one month, one week. I lost 9 lbs in my first 2.5 weeks but nothing over the last 2.5. I’ve read this can be normal early on while my body is still trying to figure out what’s going on and how to live with fewer carbs. Needing so guidance and assurance! Becoming frustrated!!
1 month, 1 week in... what to expect?
You’ve come this far. You really don’t want to throw that away do you? Patience, once adapted it does change for the greater!
It is hard when your initial weight loss is big. It makes it seem as if the rest of the weight loss will be effortless. Your body is adjusting to the way of eating. There is so much going on such as healing, lean muscle building, hormonal fluctuations, etc. I’d suggest put the scale away and instead measure your waist. Or find an outfit you feel is rather snug and try it on weekly. I lost 10 pounds in the first week and have gradually lost the second ten pounds in the past month (I’m two months in). When I had a week where I saw no movement on the scale, trying on clothes that haven’t fit me in a couple years helped me to see the change even if the scale didn’t.
And deep down I know that’s awesome… averages out to almost 2 lbs a week. But I think knowing it all came off in the first two weeks and nothing this last two is where I find the frustration. Just really looking for a “have more people experienced this” type thing.
Yeah, pretty much everyone. Weight loss isn’t linear. In fact, weight loss isn’t even the primary effect of ketosis. It’s a by-product of hormones rebalancing and systems coming back online that, although have been in place for a million years, have been offline for most of our lives.
This is a lifestyle, not a quick fix diet. It can take a couple months for your body to adjust and really begin the healing process; even longer for some people.
It’s also based on how much you need to lose, how long it takes your body to heal, a lot of that weight was probably water weight. KCKO
All I would say is; There is a reason there is a fasting section on this forum :)
But on the other hand seem you are making good progress and stalls are not unnatural. I’ve had plenty and just mix things up a bit to get things moving again (although there’s no evidence my messing caused the loss to start again. note; I’m on the last 11lbs I want to lose atm; I was losing on two meals a day, that slowed and now I don’t have dinner and that kickstarted losing in what may be the last phase of my loss (maybe).
If you want to reset your hormones to factory condition you going to have to reduce your meal time to twice a day. One hour each. No snacks.
But the problem coming from carbs addiction, wrecked metabolism and bad eating habits many people can not do fasting, or limit the eating time.
Here where keto comes handy.
After some time in very low carbs and hi fat you will have partial repair to your high insulin which will make fasting easy.
The ultimate tool to heal is not keto but fasting and excersising while fasting. But it is not possible without eating keto style first by reducing carbs and eating fat to prevent feeling hungry.
This partial repair does not come fast. It may take months or even a year depending on how long your metabolism has been wrecked.
I am trying to be patient and walk the keto all the way.
