Yesterday’s Macros?

(Pat) #21

So here’s what I had today

2 fried eggs and one and a half rashers of bacon

3 lamb cutlets with salad home made coleslaw made with mayonnaise
Quarter avocado
Olive oil

No lunch today as we didn’t have breakfast until 11am

Yesterday breakfast was
Omelette with feta cheese and spinach cooked in butter
Dinner
2 fried eggs, 80 g steak 2 sausages (less than 1 g carb)
Fried mushrooms in butter

I didn’t have lunch yesterday as I was stuck at the hospital for a few hours
Is that too much fat?

#22

Well, if that IS too much fat, then I must be overdosing myself to death xD

(Pete A) #23

Looks good. A couple of hundred more calories would only help.

(Diana) #24

How much butter are you using when you say butter? If a tablespoon each then the meal looks good.

#25

I agree with others; unless you’re using the entire bottle of olive oil it can’t be too much fat! I’m no expert but I definitely lose weight when I eat more/ eat three times a day.

(Allie) #26

You need to find what works for you personally, everyone is different and every body has different needs. I no longer add extra fat to things, just happy with whatever occurs naturally in my food.

#27

My thoughts were similar… Without the death this time. I am not nearly that bad lately

But these aren’t amounts. Some people do need to eat more fat as they eat little. But obviously too much fat is bad and unhealthy. People even have different views about how many grams fat is too much and it’s right as they are all different. We even came from different worlds. I came from extremely high-fat high-carb originally (it was way before keto) and I naturally had to eat way less fat when I went low-carb with plans to lose fat. And I did. It’s easier with less carbs but I still need to fight against my fat eating urges a bit.
To me, too much fat mean overeating, consuming too much for one’s needs and goals. In some cases, eating enough fat to trigger nausea (not due to overeating) is too much as well.
Some people need to add fat to everything to get the right amount but others don’t do that. I shouldn’t use pure fat sources at all (or just a bit, I can’t resist and very rarely I need them), my protein has more than needed. It’s quite individual, you should do what works for you.

I wonder if that is truly overdoing it… You may need more than what you think. Ask carnivores, 2 pounds of meat isn’t (necessarily) excessive… That’s 900g if you use proper units like me, originally.

So so so agree!!!

--------in general…eat what you need focusing on meat protein and fat first and key to the whole thing is WHO are YOU? Your body WILL regulate your appetite IF you eat ALL you need when one starts any eating plan change. (keto plan obviously must limit that carb intake from veg of course :))

but this can easily take alot of time and you will read alot of comments about a ton of ‘dieting experiments’ and ‘thoughts for an individual’ but most times, IF YOU eat ALL you need and are full and happy and feel very satiated and very well doing this, your body will start to re-set it all…from hormones to repair of joints etc by dumping toxins and your metabolism becomes more normal etc. ALOT of internal work happening we can’t even fathom, but if one eats that they are happy and great, we let that happen, WE WILL change our patterns. The body does that for us.

I am ZC so this is not a Keto Plan chat that happened with me but I ate SO MUCH when I started zc that I freaked. but that is what healed me and thru total natural body healing did I just change my appetite without thought. I just didn’t want this or that food, or one day I wanted it all and if you go by the healing flow of it, we win kinda.

but again, time changes us but we never can ever predict our personal timeline for this to ‘set in’ and ‘equal’ all those other posts and experiences others are having, til ya just stay on plan and change and ya think, wow, yea, I get it now with things I am reading out there.

Kcals mean nothing. but, the food where ya get any kcals from does matter  which is why keto plan is limit to around 20g per day intake and of course on zc we do 0 plant kcals.)
Eat the plan you choose and let time and body change and drop all the ‘old dieting’ info crazy from the brain…yea hard for alot of us to do but darn, in the end, we really do get massive changes from our body if we just eat to being happy, full, we get nutrients we need, we get thru toxin dump and hormones re-balance and darn, somehow with time just eating our plan each day as our body asks, yea we change so much to the better.

ok just spewing out what went down for me kinda…key is eat. eat well ON plan but key too is STAY on plan and changes come in your personal time meant for your body.

I was staying at 80% fat the first year.

Good times!

(Pat) #30

Thanks for your replies everyone that makes me feel a lot better.
Diana, it’s usually about a tablespoon of butter.
Phew I thought I might be over eating. I have try and get some lunch in or an afternoon snack maybe.
I think the trouble with being retired is I don’t wake up ready for breakfast.

This is why I’m not a fan of eating to satiety, your appetite is controlled by your metabolic rate, if you’ve eaten too little for too long and slowed it, you’ll be satiated, doesn’t mean you’re not under eating. That trend will continue.

No you don’t! I did just that, and it took over a year to fix it! At it’s worst when I tototally couldn’t lose anymore I had my RMR measured and it was at 1700/day, that’s an over 200lb dude that lifts and had a physical job! My bodyfat was in the 30’s at that point, not a good place to be!

Now I’m floating around 215-220lbs, around 10%BF and last RMR check had me in the 3500 range, over 4k with everything else added in. Now I can eat 3k/day and lose. Much better situation. I like food!

#32

Heh, me too. Total foodie.

I’ve never deliberately restricted calories, and in the lead up to me embarking on my keto journey I don’t think I could be accused of taking in too few calories on a regular basis (though I never counted/tracked previously), especially if you count my excessive drinking…

It seems that my RMR should be around the 2,000 cal mark.

I’m honestly not sure if I should be concerned about my average intake at this point; I don’t really know enough about all of this to make too much of an informed opinion. But I’m not keen on the idea of forcing extra food on myself.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #33

Once insulin stops interfering with the satiety hormones, most people on a ketogenic diet who have excess fat to shed spontaneously eat about 1000 calories less per day than their energy expenditure (according to data from Stephen Phinney). They make up the difference from excess stored fat. As they continue to eat to satiety, of course this gap shrinks, until there is no more excess fat and daily expenditure is met from food intake.

This is a very different mechanism from deliberately eating at a caloric deficit (the eat-less-move-more strategy), which signals the body that there is a famine occurring, and it should retain its resources to the extent possible. The former strategy allows us to lose weight without going hungry; the latter results in perpetual hunger.

I’m looking forward to the day when there is no more excess fat.
I think I’ll be doing okay now with all the advice of the forum members. Thanks everyone for your advice, it’s much appreciated.
