Who loves lamb?

Guess I’m joining Costco.

I’m in Northern CA, too, and get lamb from our local farm where I am lucky enough to get all our pastured, grass fed meat. It’s SO good! I like it grilled, personally. The best flavor!!
The fat/protein ratio on lamb is super good. Can’t remember now but it’s fatty so we should all be enjoying it

Everything tastes great grilled!

OOOH, YEAH LOVE IT TOO! My favorite way to cook it is grilled with garlic and Rosemary. It is usually crazy expensive here too and rather rare. It’s available around Passover, of course, at Aldi’s. Otherwise I just check for deals.

Will check Aldi’s as well as Costco! Thanks!

I do eat it every night! (unless I run out)

Lamb loin chops sizzling in a pool of duck fat on my barbecue skillet, (my wife won’t let me grease up the kitchen). I’m even thinking about asking my local butcher to quit trimming the fat off them. Do you think that’s over doing it? Just a bit?

Kiwis and Aussies love lamb because most of us were raised on it and we’re known for exporting lamb. If you’ve never had a traditional Sunday Lamb Roast dinner, you haven’t lived. :sheep: :fire:

I remember the drive to promote “healthier” living when our so called health experts were pushing low fat diets and high fibre BS, the popularity of lamb naturally dropped off because it was cited as a major cause of heart disease. As we know in Keto world, it was more likely to have been the potatoes, and pumpkin we were eating in our roast dinners, and not the lamb at all! Now I’m making up for lost time!

Another Aussie here - also a major lamb fan.

Was vegetarian for 30 years & that first bite of lamb was like coming home

Fatty lamb forequarter chop with keto Greek salad & baba ghanouj is food of the gods (even for a heathen like me!).

#28

Oh, OK. I don’t think lamb is too big down there.

#29

So baba ghanouj can be eaten as part of keto WoE? I love it but don’t like hummus much.

#30

Baba ghanouj is much lower in carbs than hummus - I eat it quite regularly

Out here in the Midwest, lamb is usually only in the stores a week or so before Easter. I really miss it, since it can be cooked either sweet or savory. That’s one thing I miss about the military commissary system in Europe, you could get reasonably priced New Zealand lamb leg all the time.

Finally had lamb for the first time yesterday (in Canada). You can buy it here but it is very expensive which makes me sad because I loved it!

(Omar) #33

I eat lamb’s legs with tamarind and garlic sauce.

It tastes delicious.

 love lamb ! it’s just soooo flipping expencive here :disappointed_relieved:

(Ethan) #35

We don’t have this problem on the east coast. Lamb is everywhere.

(Cindy) #36

I love lamb! It’s my favorite meat! But I’m Lebanese and grew up in Europe, so I was raised on it. It is kind of hard to find in the US, but we always shop at the same local grocery store and buy it every week, so now they keep it in good supply for us. I’m having so much fun making keto versions of all my family’s Lebanese foods. So lamb is on the menu at least a couple of times per week in my house!

(Cindy) #37

I’m in So. Cal. too, Regina. Do you have a Major Market anywhere near you? The one near us always has lamb.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #38

Stater’s never carries it, but I am considering Von’s or Ralph’s. Probably Trader Joe’s, now that I think about it. My project for the day!

(Cindy) #39

Good luck!!!

British and I love lamb! The fattier the better - lamb chops (cutlets) are my favourite. A little on the expensive side but what the heck.
