Day 3 of the Berberine experiment. FBG of 92 and ketones of 3.6
When blood sugar remains at 100 or higher
Putting a period on why I started this thread about my blood sugar remaining at 100 or higher with my Metene meter which when I read recent comment on Amazon about it complained of it being inaccurate. So I ordered a CareTouch meter which has good reviews on Amazon and the results I got with that have been much more in line with what I would expect being a year into keto and very careful about my carbs.
I had already eaten when I received the CareTouch but my results stayed in the 90s that day. I started a 72 hour fast and got an 85 twelve hours in and then an 82 at 24 hours.
This morning it was 75 at 36 hours which was comparable with the 69 I got on my blood work for my physical after fasting that long. The Metene meter never went below 100 on any of the 3 days of my last 72 hour fast. So that meter was inaccurate.
Yes, I’m taking potassium supplements as well as trying to eat an avocado a day. My toes are still stiff though, but no pain. Mostly they’re worse after sleeping or lying down.
(Your link about the 8 Signs and Symptoms came up “bad gateway” for me but I looked it up on Google and read it.)
That sounds more like arthritis.
I did a carnivore trial at the end of last year and early this year to see if it helped the arthritis trouble I was having in my back. I do believe it helped. Before my trial, I always awoke with stiff feet in the morning. I didn’t think too much of it. I guess I just accepted it. Over the coarse of my trial, the morning stiff, achy feet went away.
Three months off carnivore and the morning stiff achy feet are back. I restarted carnivore a few days ago. This morning I was already noticing improvement. Maybe you are eating something that is causing joint inflammation. Nightshades are known to cause joint trouble as well as eating a lot of oxalates - spinach, nuts, berries, chocolate are some examples. I get very bad joint pain from dairy, in particular.
I am mostly carnivore now not really eating any berries or vegies but I am a servant of the Dark Queen–chocolate, which I have nearly every day. I make my own chocolate fat bombs using Swerve, butter and coconut oil, adding different nuts, but it does contain chocolate. That’s going to be hard to give up, it’s almost worth the stiff toes if that’s all it is. Although I’m on a 72 hour fast now and was a couple of weeks ago so you’d think the stiffness in the toes would diminish if it’s a food problem.
No pain though and I’m fortunate at age 69 to not have any pain anywhere in my body.
I’ve come to the conclusion that my bg level using my Metene meter was consistently high, sometimes more than 15 points. I read a good number of complaints about its lack of accuracy on Amazon.
I got a CareTouch meter a week and a half ago and it seems very accurate and lines up with the fasting bg level I had with my physical in Jan. (the test strips really get the blood drawn up into the meter quickly with just a little blood.) My fasting glucose level is always below 100 in the mornings, sometimes in the 80s. On a 72 hour fast last week it got down to 64 on the third morning and it was 67 this morning on the second day of a 3 day fast.
My CT scan is in 8 days and I hope that severe fatty liver if not gone altogether is much improved.
