What would a fully keto world look like?

#1

Imagine Ancel Keys had never happened, sugar hadn’t taken off as a substitute for fattier flavours, and as a global population we eventually ended up down the path of keto and reaped all the benefits. It was not only the normal way of eating, but carb heavy foods were rarer as well because there was less demand for them.

What would the world actually look like? What would be all the positives and negatives about it?

I’m thinkin a lot like we used to look…

With everyone wanting to eat bacon, waiting lines in the many bacon-based restaurants might look something like this, even on a Tuesday night:

(Alex ) #5

the entire American & British Food Production System would be utterly screwed and probably on its knees and Cereal Companies would be sneaking tobacco into Cornflakes rather than hidden sugars…

(Bunny) #6

Much different if these two things (maybe three being sugar cane) did not exist? But we would probably find a way to extract it from something else?

  1. Sugar beet , ( Beta vulgaris ), form of beet of the amaranth family (Amaranthaceae), cultivated as a source of sugar. Sugar beet juice contains high levels of sucrose and is second only to sugarcane as the major source of the world’s sugar. For information on the processing of beet sugar and the history of its use, see the article sugar. …More Mixed with sugar cane?
  1. A sugar refinery is a refinery which processes raw sugar into white refined sugar or that processes sugar beet to refined sugar. Many cane sugar mills produce raw sugar, which is sugar that still contains molasses, giving it more colour (and impurities) than the white sugar which is normally consumed in households and used as an ingredient in soft drinks and foods. While cane sugar does not need refining to be palatable, sugar from sugar beet is almost always refined to remove the strong, almost always unwanted, taste of beets from it. The refined sugar produced is more than 99 percent pure sucrose. …More

  1. Usual flour bleaching agents are:
  • Organic peroxides, namely benzoyl peroxide .
  • Calcium peroxide .
  • Nitrogen dioxide.
  • Chlorine.
  • Chlorine dioxide.
  • Azodicarbonamide .
  • Atmospheric oxygen, used during natural aging of flour. …More

Gram for gram, bacon would cost more than gold. :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks familiar. While driving around the countryside, I happened upon a weekly cattle auction. I told all my single friends this was where they could go to meet men. Does this mean more livestock = more men?

(Running from stupidity) #9

It’s the CICO theory of male availability! More livestock input, more male output.

#10

Absolutely everything would be covered in a slight film of bacon grease so we’d all have to wear helmets or some kind of super grippy shoe. I vote for the classic Dunlop Volley.

Jesus, I just had a horrible flashback of crepe soled platforms!!! Check out #D

#13

They’ll come in very handy when bacon grease levels rise

("Don't call it calories, call it food") #14

This was my first thought too!! Grease everywhere…

#15

We could all just give up trying to keep our stoves clean - ‘ketoworld’ is sounding better all time :slightly_smiling_face:

Keto Fort Knox

(Carl Keller) #17

LOL! Touche!

(Laurie) #18

Or we could just barbecue outside and never clean the grill.

I was thinking similar thoughts while cleaning the toilet again: Wouldn’t it be easier to just have an outhouse?

#19

We’re getting good & feral now
