What’s the right goal weight?

I had an umbilical hernia that got to the point where it was really interfering with living life. I was finally able, back in February, to persuade my doctor to refer me to a surgeon, and there was no problem getting the operation approved by insurance. The actual hole in the muscle was quite small—you’d never have known by looking. The surgeon just pushed all the omentum back through the hole and stitched the muscles shut. No need for a mesh—he was delighted.

The only problem was the loose skin, so I have a long scar and no belly button any longer. I wish I had already been eating keto and learned about autophagy, but c’est la vie. Anyway, the point of all this is that now my waist measurement is no longer distorted by that ugly protrusion.

The operation was same-day surgery in the outpatient department, and recovery was dead easy (because there was so little trauma to the muscle). I really wish I could have managed to have this operation years ago.

Dr Phinney recently spoke at Low Carb Down Under saying that your ideal weight is:

“The weight you can get to without killing yourself and maintain while still having a life.”

I think that is good advice.
