What do you indulge in?

Yeah, it’s possible it wasn’t always that low, I didn’t know him well enough and he didn’t say. When I met him, he was very experienced and quite knowledgeable about how to eat (oh all the youngsters coming with stupid bodybuilder beliefs…) but maybe it wasn’t that great when he was younger. It’s so sad one can mess up their metabolism for good…

Thinking more about it, I am definitely not disgusted by Really sugary things like almond toffee or white chocolate. My loves and cravings all have / had to do with intensity. I could happily lick the pan used to fry a greasy salty hamburger, top that off with a Heath bar, and call it a meal. Happily I’m not prone to binge eating or I’d be dead by now.

I do find I’m better with a WOE that doesn’t attempt to mimic foods I love with pale substitutes, but rather gives me a limited menu of favorites that fit the keto parameters. Smoked salmon anyone??

I definitely prefer improved substitutes  But usually I just use the original as inspiration and the new thing is nothing like the other, it’s just good

But yep, I can relate. I do substitutes on low-carb but I never did on vegetarian where I had all the plants and mushrooms and dairy and eggs. It made no sense to me to use stupid vegan fake things. Though just using vegs everywhere seemed normal so I actually had dishes where the original had meat but this is normal, meat eaters do the same quite often, another varient. A meaty original doesn’t have monopoly on that type of dish

I never was the type who totally MUST have every favs. It’s odd to me. Anyway, one of my big fav was potatoes. It’s completely impossible to fake it as it has a very delicious, very distinct potato flavor nothing else possess. But almost everything is impossible to fake (even rice is so very unique! despite the minimal flavor) so I never tried to do that. Disappointments are way worse than just eating some tasty normal food.

And smoked mackerel for me but I used to like salmon. But I ate too much raw salmon in Japanese restaurants to be happy with anything else if it was about salmon afterwards… Okay, I have a salmon spread, that’s nice.

Right now my biggest indulgence seems to be hot water. So, so nice. I am almost healed from my cold now but it’s winter and an effortless hot drink sounds great all day.
