Went to my new/old doctor today - was I too harsh?

Agreed. Written communication with thoughtfulness behind it was respected a lot more when I was a kid and the many decades and centuries before that I believe.

But I have been publicly shamed several times over the past six years in many forums and chat groups for having posts too long for anyone to want to read them, (though most were no where near as long as the one I posted here,) and I was told it was considered rude. Granted, most complaints were from the younger generation but a few were backed by older adults too. They also don’t like all the punctuation.  Is this a sign that I am officially an old person now? ā€œThou shalt know them by their periods and sentence structureā€¦ā€ LOLOL

Thank you for your kindness.

I feel a bit bad that I said Harvard. I have no evidence if their new oaths are inferior to the original or not, I just had read that they did away with the original.

I also read how some universities are letting the graduates write their own oaths now. Not sure if Harvard is one of them. That struck me as odd, sort of how there is no longer any absolute right or wrong anymore, to each his own, and everything is relative. I see a bit of chaos in that and a lot of crime.

It would almost be worth going to a Ketofest or Low Carb Down Under conference just to ask the participants who might know the gossip about this question first-hand. edit 2: Maybe I should start a topic here to ask if anyone knows such gossip.

LOLOL. Too funny. I too would love to be a fly on the wall when some of these doctors share the same air space.

It turns out they have co-authored some papers, so I guess they are not completely at loggerheads. Not sure how that works, since Willet seems biased against animal-based foods, and Ludwig seems to be strongly low-carb.

While vegan low-carb isn’t impossible, it seems difficult, particularly if you’re trying to stay well below 50 grams of carbs. You’d be eating almost nothing but tofu, brocolli and olive oil at that point. Mostly olive oil, by calories.

Rude to whom??? How hard is it to skip a post? I guess if it’s moderated group, the mod is obliged to read all your crap to be sure there’s not nasties in there, but no one else needs to do so. Otherwise, if they’re so OCD that they can’t move on, that’s on them. Maybe they need some CBT (the psychological meaning, not the naughty one) to overcome their problem.

I’ve seen people on some forums (sorry, fora) or subreddits seriously post apologies for long posts after three or four sentences of common length. Subliterate rednecks! Twitter always appalled me since I can’t imagine being able to say anything worthwhile in 140 characters. I can’t even say anything useless in 140 characters!

I’m 57, have an artificial hip and might need a partial knee replacement soon. But I remain committed to my strategy of being immature as a hedge against aging…

My sympathy may be self-serving. I, too, suffer from logorrhea and a love of excessive punctuation. (Does that sentence deserve an Oxford comma, or no?) But I honor you for the length of your post because I’m always too lazy and/or drunk to type that much!

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #66

Not true! ā€œAnything uselessā€ is only 16 characters. (Just sayin’:rofl::rofl::rofl:)

Too much punctuation? There is a big difference between ā€œPunch Kennyā€ and ā€œPunch, Kenny?ā€

I really appreciated your post. I think it’s good for people to find out what other people go through to get the help the need. It’s good to have a model for how to stand up for one’s self when health/life is on the line.

Oh my, what horrible places did you visit…? I never was shamed I thing. It was always my own guilt in my case (I abandoned several texts on this forum but I don’t like to do so). I noticed you tend to write walls of texts, it always feels nice to get reminded I am not alone! Though it matters what it consists. I tend to think about too many things, write too much about myself and sometimes feel the need to make myself clear (I am sure writing overly much is contraproductive sometimes)… And writing is thinking for me sometimes. Or a nice recreational activity. Occasionally a great way to avoid eating, I need every help at that!

I saw plates for vegan food below 20g carbs a day, quite several and STILL can’t see how it is possible… I couldn’t do vegetarian keto below 20g net… Though I am aware that I am abnormal, other people can fit their vegs into less than 25g (I needed 15g for my other plants, I did 40g net carbs keto while I didn’t eat meat. it’s up to 20g on carnivore and up to 30g on carnivore-ish where I mostly eat animal food but add some tiny extras)… By the way, if I did vegan super low-carb for a whole day (as more is not something I can’t imagine unless I fast but I don’t call that vegan), I definitely would use gluten galore, that’s pretty low-carb, satiating and my seitan is quite interesting and tasty… There are few things where a liberal use of soy sauce, paprika and mustard doesn’t help… ;)) But making a sustainable vegan keto plan below 20g net carbs? Sounds something that calls for way more research I am willing to do…
I definitely wouldn’t eat ANY tofu, broccoli and olive oil as I hate them all. There are many other options, it’s just difficult to get most of the necessary nutrients.
I had plant-based low-carb days, it was easy (probably lacking, though but I didn’t care as it was so very temporal) but as we go lower and lower, it gets drastically more difficult.

I can’t think of any low-carb vegan ingredients that I actually don’t like, but the list of appropriate ingredients that comes to mind is just so short, I’d find it awfully monotonous

Stick around…. You have competition in the Lengthy Post category. Don’t sweat it!

Oh I can imagine hundreds of usable ingredients (actually thousands but some would require super tiny amounts and probably wouldn’t worth it), some variety wouldn’t be a problem, only the staples. Hard to find some very very low-carb base items for getting enough nutrients and yes, there is the thing with boredom but it’s individual and there are so many protein sources on a plant-based diet… All brings some carbs but there is variety. Probably bigger than on my carnivore-ish where I have a few staples only. But they are pretty great so boredom is no problem - it was but one can adapt and change.
There are tons of plant ingredients I hate with a passion… But there are even more I can at least tolerate so that alone wouldn’t be a problem (though I admit strong dislike against almost all green plant matter is definitely a problem on plant-based and even vegetarian keto. and I ate very much animal protein sources on the latter. just zillion different plant items too).
