Unrealistic weight loss expectations

#21

I was just reading in two other threads where people expressed regret that they haven’t been losing faster. Yet both had (to me) more than acceptable returns on their efforts.

There is no doubt being overweight can be very painful, and most of us want ‘it’ gone fast. I absolutely would love that too. But now after many months, I’m absolutely convinced that this is the way I’m going to eat forever, and eventually, if I keep refining my eating MO, the weight will come off. But for me, it will be many months, if not a couple more years.

At about 216 (all time high about 250 several years ago) this morning, in roughly the past 4 months, I’ve lost 8 pounds. Now that I accept that rate, I’m much more relaxed about it. And, yes, I continue to try new strategies, but I refuse to drive myself crazy with unrealistic expectations, or comparisons.
