Swollen, puffy fingers and swollen feet after keto

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #41

I didn’t realise how inflamed I was until the inflammation and bloat went away, once I started a ketogenic diet. As I believe I mentioned already in this thread, it becomes quite obvious when I’ve overeaten carbohydrate, because my joint pain (inflammation) returns and my fingers swell up (plus other symptoms that aren’t relevant here). And this is true even if the amount of extra carbohydrate doesn’t appear to be enough to kick me out of ketosis.

What I didn’t realise, back when I was on the standard Western diet, is just how badly my way of eating was making me feel. It took changing my way of eating to learn that. I suspect you are in the same boat, and were just as bloated and inflamed before keto as you are now, and simply didn’t realise it. If you try cutting your carbohydrate to ketogenic levels again, I’d be willing to bet that the symptoms you are noticing post-keto will disappear again.

I am also confused as to why you are afraid to go back on keto.

If you don’t want to lose weight then up your fat so you are giving your body fat to burn instead of burning your fat stores.

Also I am curious as to why you started eating a keto diet? What were your goals?
