Are you on macros or keto ? On keto you don’t get hungry because you eat fat to satiety.

Your hunger and energy levels are more important then your trainer’s goals for you.
Let those things (hunger level, energy level, pleasantness level) be your guide. In addition, think of things in ranges, example, shoot for xxx+/-200 calories, it will make things a lot less stressful (calorie counting is so difficult anyway, so many problems with it, it’s a lot easier when using ranges vs hard and fast “must hit” type goals.

That’s something to work on figuring out. Too much protein might not help, it could spike insulin and keep you riding the carb craving roller coaster.
