Satiety problems

I reread, and it says “One of my kids (female aged 36) is a lifelong -never had meat, not once- vegatarian now 7+ yr vegan and is a paragon of health and vitality and lean muscle so I’m not one of the anti vegan crowd that’s for sure.”

Sorry. If she can do vegan for 7+ years, she’s one of the very, very, very few. You have to have multiple vitamins to do that. It’s really an unhealthy diet for most.

@ctviggen My master’s is in medical genetics (plus 27yrs experience in medicine), she comes from a family with multiple docs and her hubby is an NP. She herself was a paramedic before marrying.

Trust me, we aren’t ignorant as to nutritional needs.

She takes no supplements either.

I do not think her case is extrapolative to all.

I won’t derail the thread into an argument of vegan diets so shall reply to you no further.

EDIT: You don’t know what an NP is…
a nurse practitioner.

What’s an NP?

Maybe she’s the Shawn Baker of vegans?

I have a candy addiction that is thankfully very specific, considering Halloween is coming and I will be buying treats for the children coming to our house. My grand daughter will be going Trick or Treating as well and will have a bunch of treats.

I have a picture of me on the fridge that is a constant reminder that keeps me in check and on track --I don’t want to be that size, I have a lot to lose so I need to work on that! Seeing myself really helps keep me on track --I want to be slim and trim so badly.

My birthday is in November and then of course Christmas is coming. My kids have no clue what to buy me, as they always buy me boxes (I mean a lot!!) of my favourite candy. When I say a lot, I mean they buy me 2-4 boxes each, and I eat them all before New Years for the Christmas ones. Last year I had 10 boxes in total, and yes all gone before January 1st. They are all like, but mom, we can just buy a few… I said, no none, I cannot have them in the house.

This is my addiction:

I cannot have these in the house -I can eat 10 boxes of these within days -I could eat 20 probably within days. This is my favourite candy since I was a child… I haven’t had any of them since January though; so perhaps since not having had any sugar since February, maybe I would not be as bad? I am not taking any chances though, I told them all please do not buy me any!

Note how they say low fat, so I always felt that they were a better choice, hahahahaha.

Yup. I just returned from a trip to Montreal to visit family. I never try for full carnivore on these visits. I stayed with my aunt and she had many varieties of nuts in her refrigerator and freezer. Hopeless. While I faced all sorts of temptations I only had a few bites of cakes and chocolate over the two days and ate pretty carnivorous meals (my family is awesome about my diet, I have no excuses!"). But, I gobbled up nuts for ‘breakfast’. A cereal bowl full both mornings…lol. Then I took a big bag on the bus for the 7 hour trip home.

So insane. :disappointed:

Reading this I remembered that when I was on a high protein-low carb and low fat diet (before keto) I read somewhere about the so called “protein leverage hypothesis” according to which we prioritize the consumption of protein over other macros and do not feel satiety until the protein needs of our organism are met (no matter how many calories we consume). So basically no matter how much fat or carbs we eat, if we have not covered our body needs of protein we will not feel satiated. This is only a hypothesis but it sounds interesting to me and I remember that when I started the low-carb high protein way of eating I was surprised by this how fast I managed to feel satiated after a high protein meal…Then I used to eat much more proteins than on keto. To me personally there is some truth in this because if I do not have enough protein, even with half a pack of butter I feel hungry, no mater how many calories I have consumed.

Wow Susan I’m not even into candy that much and those look delish. I bet the texture kicks ass.

That made me remember, there WAS ONE candy I’d eat the whole box of -but rarely had- Joyva Raspberry Rings. Dark choc over a raspberry jelly ring. They kicked ass.GUEST_8e15a015-ccc5-49a3-a4e5-afa098c00ae2

If a portion in to set amounts to take to work then I can make it work as I know the rest is safely miles away, but I’ll still be overly generous with the portions so best just not to… :flushed:

They sound like something I would love. I don’t really love chocolate at all-it is not a big temptation for me. I have never been a chocolate maniac -I don’t dislike it, I ate it on occasion, it is just not like something I struggle with resisting is all. Chocolate covered fruit jellies would be delicious though, I am sure!

(hottie turned hag) #31

Nor me. It’s the texture, and the tartness /choc combo.

I hope your kids heed and don’t buy you any, seriously. :hushed:

They are all wondering what to buy me now, haha!

I don’t want clothes, as well have a bunch I want to get into; and am very in between sizes for now anyway. I suggested buying Gift cards for the movies again; for their dad and me -as we did enjoy two movies since Christmas when our eldest son bought us that last Christmas. That would be a nice gift for us, fun date night for hubby and me =).

Girl wth! You were doing your beef binge buster!

Nuts are wee demons :japanese_goblin:

(Jane Srygley) #34

I do not understand this sentence…

(Jane Srygley) #35

Me too! I would still feel fine eating my local eggs because I know the chickens are well treated, but dairy? Dead animals? Nope I’d much rather abstain… I belong to a vegan keto group on facebook even but at least for this point in my life, that just won’t work for me, sad to say.

(Jane Srygley) #36

That definitely seems to be true for me… Also this site is telling me to stop doing one post per quote… so I’ll see if I can respond to one more here…

Thanks so much for saying that! I’ve had the “eat to satiety” advice a lot and started thinking there was something REALLY WRONG with me.

(hottie turned hag) #37

Trust me. I know.

I must do a disconnect. Must. If I start to think about the animal, esp factory farms…I get all kinds of messed up. I had to mute the humor thread on here due to the sickening jokes/memes about cattle etc.

Deli meat helps with the visual disconnect, vs a steak, say.

(mole person) #38

I’m doing the beef binge buster now because of that binge…lol. The nuts were a week ago. I should have been clearer.
