strangely enough. here in the UK we just cant get whole cuts suitable for grinding cheaper than we can buy ready ground beef. its very backwards.

I think that’s something that’s happened within my lifetime. Mum had a meat grinder that saw a lot of use back when I was a young child. That thing stuck around probably until I was in my mid to late teens.

Everyone here had a meat grinder… I don’t have one but I have other machines to do it with so no problem. I never know if I want some of the slabs ground when I buy them, they usually end up roasted or fried, I need to be bored to ground and make sausage or scotch eggs with some! And it’s least plastic if I just buy a big slab, either from the meat counter or just with plastic tightly around it. It’s the cheapest but ground meat is just a tad more expensive than the cheapest cuts.
