I was thinking more of the sugar in the wine, in this case, rather than the alcohol. But I had heard @RobC 's point about the liver prioritizing alcohol metabolism before. I’d love for Dr. Phinney to be right, though. You know, just so I can get back to my personal obsession with single malt whisky.
