I don’t know about the upcoming VA visit, but I sure want to tell you CONGRATS on taking back your health. We say it time and time again: you do the work, you reap the benefits! Good on you!

Aw… shucks. Thankye Misses.:cowboy_hat_face:

I figure I should make an update about my meds. I decided to go back on the Blood pressure meds for now. After the initial 46 pounds in two weeks time (long story, I discovered my exact start date with Keto, it all adds up).

So I figure the sudden weight loss helped my BP extremely well. I have no idea what the half life of the metoprolol is/was but it might have played a diminishing factor over time. But seeing as now my BP is consistently on the lower side of High, I’d best hedge my bets and go back on that med. as I continue to lose weight, I’ll try again after another 10 pounds, and then every five after that. I’m also getting my body back in motion. [edit: Up until two weeks ago, my routine for about the past year was at best sedentary]. Riding the stationary bike for an hour or more once to twice a day now. My BG one hour after dinner tonight was 134 [gasp] so I jumped on the bike for 45 minutes, which was 12 miles (or so it says) and did another BG, 102! JaJaan! (Inside joke). After the bike ride my BP was 140/100. Too high to my liking. So back to the pill for that. I’m not anti-meds, but if I can do without meds, so much the better.

Hi Bob,

Why bother going to the doctor at all?

Seriously, you are loosing weight, feeling great, your BP is improving, statins are largely useless, and you are no longer taking T2D medications … all without any help at all from your doctor. Why not just save the time, gas, money and aggravation? What exactly is the benefit to you if you go to a doctor that is more likely to cause you harm then to help you heal?

Ohhh … and no one, excepting only Mrs. Hanson, ever gets to read me the riot act.

When sick, go get help, when not just enjoy life.

Keto for Life!

Richard

Two reasons. The first reason, when someone thinks their right, and rubs it in my face, like, “I’m a doctor. Your’re not”. When I get that kind of attitude from anyone, and I have conclusive evidence that they are wrong. And they have the potential of hurting other people, and there is even the slightest chance what I say might help someone else, then I absolutely will get in their face about it. I’ll do it gently. They won’t even know it’s happening. (I did something similar in the USAF concerning munitions safety. I opened a massive can of worms. The USAF as a whole is now much safer for it. It’s a long story. I’m not afraid to rock the boat if it’s gonna save a life)

The second reason is this stupid crap. The VA is a government run institution. That’s the reason it has had so many problems. I’m sure you heard the problems that happened in the VA in Phoenix, AZ. I was there for that and experienced it first hand. Appointments taking a year or more to get. But the books only go out 90 days. How does that work? It doesn’t, and it was illegal. People got fired. I still think they should have gone to jail. Starting with those at the top.

Since it is a red tape bureaucracy, you need to follow certain rules to keep it. So that means I have to show up for physicals and follow ups. If I don’t, I get unregistered (and need to re-register and begin again as if they never saw me before, starting with new physicals, and other waste of time stuff), and the wipe all of my pending appointments. So I’ll play their little games. Keep appointments. They have gotten much better over the years. Still not as well run as a private facility, but that’s the nature of government run health care and why I’m a strong opponent of forcing it on the USA as a whole. It would be a disaster. Imagine being told you must eat like they tell you, from that food pyramid created in 1977, or you lose your health care. The government is just a group of people, noteably ungoverned. But people can be swayed by truth. So eventually as an organization it will come around. The wheels of government turn very slowly. And that’s a good thing.

That was hard to read. Thank you and your colleagues for stepping up and helping him out. A single heart isn’t enough for your post.:heart::heart::heart:

And thank you for your service to the USA.

Richard, a T2D needs to test BG regularly, even when numbers have improved on KETO and you are off medicines. The BG has been a roller coaster for and probably is for others as well. My testing supplies are paid for by my insurance if doc is involved. That can be one really good reason. Also, you can get sick from something that has nothing to do with LCHF diet.

JayBee, you are a saint!

No, I’m most definitely not, but thank you. I wish the VA did more for our Veterans.
