Good example of individual differences. For me, pizza would result in frequent, unpleasant trips to the bathroom. But potatoes are always great, as well as fresh fruit…
One cheat day - how to not feel ill?
You need to start a new thread to start posting all those on. You find some awesome ones.
Ya, pizza effects my friend that way , gluten intolerance. For met its ok
I have personally found that how one feels after a “cheat” day is very specific to the individual. If you are particularly senstive to any particular foods and you’ve been avoiding them for an extended period of time and then you eat a lot of it you’ll be giving your system a huge shock, whereas if it isn’t a sensitivity and is only just the carbs you can mitigate any potential problems there by eating fiber/protein rich foods before the carbs, adding vinegar/cinnamon, and go walking 10-30 minutes after eating.
I personally can “cheat” on keto after any amount of complete carb avoidance and not be bothered at all, but I don’t seem to have noticeable food sensitivities and I focus on food quality even if I am happening to eat off keto.
Me too, no food sensitivities only like the cat abhor. Ha ha, high protein had always agreed with me, i did not always listen
Had my delicious cheat meal two nights ago. This time the water weight only stuck with me 2 days instead of 4 or so. I looked like the cat picture i posted here. I was feeling tired for a few days and it always seems like my body saint to eat little ceasars deep dish with cinnamon bites. It was a beautiful 3000 cal dinner and i slept like a rock and felt better the next day
I think it depends on the person. I am a big meat eater, and for years, before Keto, I would sometimes eat only meat for a few days, then want a bagel. I didn’t notice any ill effects.
Me too, all ways a meat eater, i Judy enjoy pizza once in s while. Like i head one say before , it allows me to feel normal once in s while. Eating what theta do. What’s cool I’d i did a DNA test and it also revealed that i was a meat eater. Optimal health for me was lower carbs, high protein.
From what i understand there are markers that your DNA have regarding biological heritage and physical trates that can determine who you are, weaknesses, personality, allergies to foods, types of physical workouts, temperment ect. I was blown away when i read the report about me. Down to my personality. It was right in point. Brine down types of foods to stay away from, not cause i was allergic but they were non beneficial to me for optimal health.
Vitagene, was the company but there are others pout there. $100 is what it costs usually.
Make it the one cheat meal, and have a plan to get back on keto the next meal, and execute that plan.
Feeling a little gastric disturbance at carb consumption is a benefit. Feeling carb cravings, that’s the problem. That’s why you have a plan prepped for the flip side, to get you back on.
I never have an issue getting back into keto. Nny cheat meals are planned and not a knee jerk reaction. Going back to keto is like i never had a cheat meal to begin with. I think when people start to have increase that cheat meal and body gets that sugar taste again that’s when people get in trouble.
This won’t be the last time. You have many other speed bumps incoming. As long as you resume, you are winning.
If you are truly in ketosis, the alcohol is what will likely make you feel badly afterwards. Suggest you have a plan to drink lightly and alternate water with wine.
At 3 weeks your not adapted yet, unlikely anything will happen. Fast the next day and you should be fine.
Much easier with a cheat meal, if you notice, many people skip right over that and go straight to a cheat DAY!
I sort of split the difference. I don’t just have one cheat meal, but I don’t cheat all day. I will typically eat keto (one or two small) meals in the morning/afternoon on the day I plan my cheat for, but then go all out from, say, 1800 until I go to bed. Usually, all it takes is a trip to Taco Bell and a convenience store for some treats and I’m good. I don’t binge up until I fall asleep, either. But I think a single “cheat meal” would be too restrictive for me and a “cheat day” would be far too much. I guess a good term might be “cheat window”
Update: Had a great evening. Drank the whole bottle of wine (lol). Felt super hungover the next day, but managed to fast throughout it all. I don’t think the carbs affected me at all. Found it quite easy to cut them out again
Just to add on, going keto is the best thing to have happened for my exams (currently 3rd year physics student). My mind feels clearer than ever, I’m able to study 12 hours most days. During past years I would have been craving chocolate to help me through, now I only crave a bit of buttered spinach. Amazing!!
