Nothing is working

Get the doc involved on headaches that don’t go away. A respected member of the keto community had a massive vertebral artery dissection (VAD)where she needed life saving meds and time in the hospital. Symptom = 4 day headache. Lucikly, she got treated and is alive. One person close to her MADE her go to the doctor.

That being said:

My headaches are often

  1. Lack of caffeine (black coffee helps)
  2. Dehydration (water helps)
  3. Electrolyte problems, salt, magnesium, potassium all those. goes along with dehydration.

Good luck and get cleared by an MD or Nurse Practitioner first. Could be many other things. My headaches go away 5-10 mins after coffee or water or salt.

Hi. Feeling much better after the keto academy purchase. Headache is gone thanks to more coffee. Macros were hard to calculate but I came close. Downloaded my fitness pal…a must for calculating correctly. Under about 300 calls for the day and feel satiated. The scale will be true tomorrow. Now I just have to figure out how to read posts that aren’t sent directly to me. You guys are awesome and so are the apps

It is only a week, do not worry, maybe you had measured in the different times of the day.
I recommend you to check if the program you have been using is good one, especially if you are just beginning; it is important not to start to harsh because it will look too difficult to accomplish.
If you are not sure, I suggest you should try to follow this one:

I’ve been reading and watching many many youtubes about keto and adrenal fatigue and the same thing keeps hitting for me. If I’m feeling irrational hunger it’s because something is spiking my BG. Someone on here suggested doing an experiment, eating different meals, more protein, veggies and seeing what raises glucose levels. I like that kind of numbers experiment, I can wrap my head around that more than I can judge if I feel hungry or not.

Lynn it’s the weirdest thing. I have sort of given up coffee… or more specifically I don’t have to have it. Friday was day 1 of a 3-day fast for me and I didn’t have any coffee… actually forgot to drink any. And to my incredible surprise, I did not have a headache. LIke, at all. Saturday I had 2 consecutive 6-oz cups of black. This was very weird and not tasty… I always have heavy whipping cream and Truvia sweetener. I have since learned that Truvia can stimulate insulin response, so out it goes. But I had a scary burp episode that was extremely acidic, so no coffee yesterday. No coffee today. I am actually fine. Holy cow, just like I could never ever even consider a 24 hour fast and a 3-day fast - forgeddaboutit - I was even less believing I could ever EVER go without coffee. Like, coffee is LIFE!!! Will miracles never cease??? My new motto: Never say never.

Jeanne.
Wow. This experience is awakening a lot in me and I see it did you too! I still cannot imagine a three day fast. Yesterday I must have consumed 3 gallons of water and my headache finally subsided. Its weird. I get bursts of energy that are almost euphoric and then a weird kind of dizzy/foggy period. My weight has not dropped and I am well into week 2. I am sticking with it and am now counting grams, calories and macros. yee ha.

It sure is! I’m having a bit of a hard time recovering from that 3-day fast though. My digestive system wasn’t happy with my choice of refeeding meal or it’s a side affect of the Metformin… but I’ve been getting up every hour running to the bathroom with completely watery stool. Blegh. Just going to continue to Keto On and hope it normalizes. Otherwise, no problems. I’m keeping up better with the salt but geez oh Pete it is hard to take that much salt in. I keep expecting to get a headache from it, but nope I’m just fine.

You might try getting carbs to 20g or less rather than a percentage.

I know so much salt. But I know how much better I feel taking it.
