Not hungry at dinner

I recently heard the 2KD podcast, episode 58, with Megan:

If memory serves, she says it’s because your body gets use to the lowered caloric intake after a couple of weeks and adjusts accordingly. Which might be OK if you just want to maintain, but if you want to lose weight it’s best to mix it up.

But what does it matter if the lowered caloric intake happens on OMAD or not? I don’t care about the adjustment thing as my family’s experiences clash with it - but I regularly have a higher-calorie day anyway, maybe it helps in my case. But a proper deficit shouldn’t do such things in a healthy person as far as I know…
If someone can’t eat enough on OMAD, it’s bad news for maintenance too (even bigger, I would think), such people simply shouldn’t do OMAD at all.
Mixing up may be a good idea for many people, one loses fat on OMAD and keeps their metabolism okay on some occassional TMAD days… And forget about OMAD on maintenance if the normal, not damaged energy need is still not small enough for a comfortable meal.

I didn’t listen to the podcast as I just can’t, I am horrible with videos too. Feel free to ignore me if it’s a problem.

I think that Megan’s point was that with her patients that eat OMAD that they typically don’t eat enough calories in that one meal, but they feel satiated. So after a while their metabolism slows down.

I guess that would also be true if you under-ate at 2MAD too.

So mixing it up to have a feast every so often will keep your body guessing and your metabolism revved up. Anyone still looking to lose weight would have to do this, not so much if you’re in maintenance mode.

That could be true. I physically can’t eat enough when I eat OMAD, and if I stick to a very short window for that one meal.

I have been mixing it up, trying to eat OMAD a few days a week and 2MAD otherwise. Trying to get some 36 hour fasts in, but it’s been a while for those.

I am definitely mixing it up today. I didn’t add too much fat to my morning coffee so I started to feel hungry a few minutes ago.

I ate a few sausages for breakfast, which I had not been eating because of the fatty coffee. I will eat lunch when I get hungry again which is about 3/4 cup of my keto broccoli and cheese soup that I had left over from Wednesday and a new york strip steak I had left over from dinner last night. Pretty sure that will keep me until dinner.

I am going to eat a little more than I usually do to see what happens. I think with the way I had been eating, like two meals a day, I was not eating enough and keeping myself in maintenance.
