By the way, I got an email from a pretty famous biochemist and researcher I’d contacted about my LCHF diet in order to ask a few questions addressing my concerns. He made a few points you guys might find interesting, especially @DaveKeto and possibly @richard:
- “no evidence that there are any negative health effects of a low carbohydrate diet”
- “Ketogogenic diets prevent and even reverse insulin resistance” – in response to my asking whether LCHF diets could paradoxically cause insulin resistance
- He says to avoid sweeteners, even non-caloric ones, entirely.
- He says high cholesterol may be remedied by upping fish and olive oil to replace some meat and dairy.
Thought I’d report back, because I found his reply fascinating. He’s certainly not afraid of the fat, but the nuances in his email struck me as important. If you guys are interested in seeing the full email and knowing who it is so you can understand his credentials, I can ask him if it’s ok for me to share it with you.
