Thanks!

Splenda Zero (liquid squirter) is basically sucralose liquid, at least in the states. There is sodium and potassium as well “for freshness”. It’s nothing like the powdered Splenda. That stuff is evil, maltodextrin if I remember right. bleh.

Edit: spelling

I have not found an artificial sweetener that didn’t taste like chemicals to me yet, though I had had the blue stuff in coffee a while back and it was ok and I had tried some of that carb smart ice cream and it was ok.

Teflon coated cookware… I was at the Vet standing in line and they had these posters talking about how the vapors from Teflon, Silverstone etc were lethal to pet birds in your home. I was thinking holy cow your pet parrot is a Canary in your coal mine! Then I read an article about how one researcher was finding chemicals in food associated with the application of Teflon in food cook in this type of cookware, So I have cooked on cast iron ever since, I use stainless steel for some things but I mostly cook on cast iron pans that have been handed down through the family for who know how long.

I’m cutting back myself, but when I do use them for baking or fat bombs, I always combine Swerve and Stevia – the combination seems to make them less chemical-tasting. I don’t eat this stuff every day, but my husband seems to need it more than I do. But I do keep lowering the quantity as I would like to get to the point where I have no taste for sweetness.

I’ve cut out my added sugars too…except that my newby husband is fond of the Ace-K free diet sodas, so now I’m drinking them. After having no sweet beverages for several months, the diet sodas are very nice. But, I want to get off of those too. Just binging right now and then I’ll be back to water.

What are your thoughts on these? I found them far too sweet, and I don’t really understand the “net carbs”…

(David) #27

Are they subtracting the Sugar Alcohol (11g) and Fibre (3g) from the Total Carb 15g per serving?

(Mike W.) #28

I think so. I don’t really understand sugar alcohols. It does also have a warning that consuming too much can lead to “disasterous” results…

food label sorcery…thanks fda loopholes

@Debby
did you try your cacao butter?

i did and my coffee amaazzzing…thanks forum for bringing cacao butter to my attention

#31

I didn’t try it yet…and now I’m on second day of a fast. Sounds great though!

(Mike W.) #32

Would you eat it?

#33

50% chocolate, and first ingredient isn’t chocolate? Yikes. I wouldn’t eat it. But, that’s me. Others need to make their own choice on what food they eat.

(eat more) #34

probably not…

So i hate water (plain anyway). So i always add copius amounts of lemon juice (courtesy of RealLemon from Costco) which makes it tolerable so i can drink my 10-16 cups a day.

Sometimes, i notice that it tastes sweet. Like, my tastebuds think sour is sweet. Not always, but its happened a few times. I just took it to mean i wanted more lemon (so i obliged), but found it odd.

even crazier to me (at the time)…adding salt to my lemon water made it sweeter lol
