Morning syndrome

(Thurston ) #21

Mine is always highest of the day in the morning, I’ve tried everything, I’ve learned to live with it as my A1C has gotten to 5.1. So I guess it’s a big picture thing.

Don’t eat if you’re not hungry. Period…

There are a LOT of reasons you could have higher glucose readings in the morning. Sometimes, it precedes a drop in weight. Your liver stores glycogen, and ONLY when it feels it no longer needs it, does it dismantle the OLD stuff and break it down.

I hear “Dirty Keto” and I cringe. Go as close to Zero carb as possible for faster glucose control. Also, have you added Walking? Get out and burn off the excess carbs (not exercise, but movement)!

As hard as losing weight is, it is FAR EASIER than REPAIRING your damaged body. That can take 3-5 years! think about how long you were obese and on insulin… Coming off of it is great.

But HEALING means averaging down into better health. Which means you have to be EVEN healthier to get healthier. The same reason that the last 5 lbs of weight loss is much harder than the first 5 lbs.

Keep tracking it. And stop your eating EARLIER and EARLIER. I found the best numbers when my OMAD meal was at 2pm, and I had nothing after that.

Also, let it average out over a few days. A one or three day “unknown” spike in morning glucose when you changed nothing else is a good sign you might be ready to break a plateau! So, don’t fight it. Report back…
