Ketone Meter use

(Crippie) #21

Looks like its $60 for the meter, the lancet device, and 10 test strips

After the 10 you can get a pack of 50 for $60.

If you go through the keto-mojo site you can get the kit for $112 which is the meter, the lancet, 60 ketone strips, 50 glucose strips, and a lifetime discount of their test strips at only $0.99 a strip

Only downside is that they are out of stock on their website and wont be shipping until Feb 8

Hi Crippie —

I find the Keto-Mojo very easy, though I didn’t have any problems with the Precision Xtra (except the price of ketone strips). I will probably appreciate it even more when I learn what the other readings are (HCT and Hb) and what favorable values are for those.

Frankly, I don’t know how to determine accuracy other than relying on Dom D’Agostino and all the studies referenced on the website.

I have also been pleased with the customer service when I had questions that weren’t answered in the videos or FAQ.

Now, if they would package the test strips in something that is smaller and recyclable, it would make me happier. Especially since the ketone strips are just 10 to a vial. Too much going to the landfill.

Keto-Mojo is a small operation and they are probably in West Palm Beach for the Low-Carb USA event this weekend. Since their business is in California, they may not be shipping product until they get back.

I have 2 Keto-Mojo kits, one at home and one at work. I use them for Glucose more than Ketones, but since lowering my protein intake, I have started checking ketones more often. When I was eating unlimited amounts of protein on ZC, I would normally get a reading of Lo on the Ketone strip. Spending a dollar on a strip to get a Lo reading is a bit pointless.

I talked with the rep from Keto-Mojo at the Low-Carb USA event in SanDiego. He had testing to back up his claims of accuracy on Glucose. I had recently been very frustrated with the inconsistency of my Onetouch meters at normal BG levels, and had switched to Contour Next to get better accuraccy/consistency. When my A1c dropped to 6.0 my insurance company stopped paying for my test strips, so I started switching from Contour Next to Keto-Mojo. Glucose readings are very consistent between all of my Keto-Mojo and Contour Next Meters.

The website shows 50 packs of Ketone Strips, but I order the 10 packs since I don’t test frequently and if they are like glucose strips, they start to age as soon as the package is opened and they are exposed to moisture.

Now wouldn’t it be nice if they came out with an inexpensive BI tester to go with it? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: They probably have the technology, but those little suckers might send the med/pharm/food house of cards tumbling down!

Anyone have any onsite info relationship between glucose levels and ketone levels? I know as ketone levels go up glucose should go down. Is there a general area glucose levels will be for someone in ketosis?

Shipped early!

(Crippie) #27

Oh man! I’m jealous! I haven’t gotten shipping confirmation or anything :-/

(Crippie) #28

Just checked again. Still unfulfilled :frowning: dang got my hopes up that maybe it was just a slow email but doesn’t seem to be the case.

@mistermojo, are they potentially shipping early? Or am I SOL until the 8th?

I just got mine a couple days ago. I’m happy with it so far. Taking some of the guesswork out of things.

(Crippie) #30

Dang. Still noting for mine. :-/ just noticed they are based near my area, maybe I Can just go pick it up Haha! I want it ASAP. Been doing a lot of new workout and am curious how it may be affecting my ketones as well as OMAD. Guess I’ll just have to be patient.

I have been doing this woe since May 2017. I started testing ketones and glucose in June. I loved the information it gave me to gauge me eating. Many say you can tell when you’re in ketosis, but for me, it wasn’t so easy to determine. I test on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but once a week would probably be sufficient. I would recommend you do it just to see how what you eat affects your levels.

I wish the Mojo Tester was available before I bought the expensive one.

I now own the Novamax. Precision Xtra and keto Mojo, too. My sister stopped keto and is sending me her extra Mojo strips (yay). While I wait, it seems like Keto Mojo has really put downward pressure on Precision Xtra Blood Ketone and Glucose strips prices on eBay… my go-to eBay seller has Precision Xtra combo bundles with 50 ketone strips and 50 glucose strips for 70 cents a strip ($70 for the bundle of 100 mixed strips). http://stores.ebay.com/Anneecakes_Ketone_Strips

There was also someone on there re-selling some Mojo strips, but they sold out fast.
