Keto rash getting worse

#61

Yes, indeed!! And provided we have access to nutrient-based/functional medicine/integrative medicine resources and support, a ton of healing & transformation is possible based on my experience and that of so many in the ancestral health world.

Oh! There’s lots of interesting hormonal healing tidbits gathered over in this thread started last year too (I can’t recall if you’ve chimed in there or not Paulene): https://www.ketogenicforums.com/t/midlife-female-health-for-fat-adapted-women-cortisol-antidotes-including-oxytocin-adaptogens-higher-real-carbs-and-gravitas-resources/92416

Thanks @KetoSnaps - I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I’m upping my carbs to 50g this week to see if it eases.

Thanks @SlowBurnMary, I’ll check it out.

@Paulene
I woke up at 4 am scratching and itching. I got up and put some ACV on myself and it helps. That always helps me. At first it burns which is such a relief from the itch, and then it just makes the itching go away for a while. I find it works even better after I have scratched because maybe it goes into the layers of skin better? But I also use the black seed oil, and a zink cream, so I keep my skin moisturised so the ACV doesnt dry me out. But what works best for me is the ACV. And then this morning the itching was minimal again - bearable. So for some reason I find it comes and goes. I also find the skin eruptions are at different stages. Some are going away while new ones crop up- so the itchy spots can vary. I am just hoping it will get less and slowly heal up and disappear. But it is more tolerable than it was in the beginning and I also have no clue whether it is because for two days I upped my carbs. I also gained one kilo back during those 2 days.:frowning_face:

PS also try rubbing some ice on it. It helps a bit too

I list the 15 I gained, bug the rash you mentioned, especially under the one arm, is hitting home. So glad I signed to search fir my issue. When I read your post, I thought…I’m not crazy…lol. Thanks for sharing and the info. I’ll be digging deeper.

Okay I know this is a old thread but having experienced this in my early 2019 beginning Keto journey.
I have got to comment. This rash is due to starting Keto too fast. Keto should be begun slowly. Removing carbs slowly avoids this rash and the Keto flu. Learned this from Dr. Cywes. He suggest removing carbs slowly over days to not shock the body. Suddenly dropping carbs can really make a person sick. I know I dove off head first into Keto January 2019. Made me so sick I ended up in the ER. It’s not salt, it’s not electrolytes, it’s just moving to fast into Keto.
Now about the rash, it’s not going away until it wants to go away. I had it for 2 weeks. The only solution that I found was from a lady who had it really bad. I was desperate to try anything. She told me how,
Selsun Blue Shampoo, Its the thick blue smelly kind. IT WORKS! Use the original formula. Not the new brands, but the old one with the strong ingredients. Get in the shower, get your rash area wet. Then smear The Selsun Blue on and leave it on for a few minutes. It worked wonders, I did it a few times a day, once I just smeared it on without the shower :joy: This was the only thing that gave me relief
