So have I, and I have too much respect for my body to fill it with this crap.
Takes less than five mins to make my own cake with safe ingredients so that’s what I’ll keep on doing.
Keto Has Gotten Huge!
Not all of us are “addicted” to carbs. Some (many?) are. Some aren’t. I list myself as one of those who isn’t.
I’ve had many time where I’ve eaten carbs, including (real) cakes and ice cream cakes. And just went back to low carb right after that.
If you’re not one of those people, then I suggest keeping away from carbs. If you are one of those people, then periodic carb excursions might not be bad.
Bwaha… We finally agree!!! Nope! I love it and will never give up something that personally has never affected me.
Ain’t happening. I personally know so many people in the lifestyle they speak of… They die too. They aren’t out living cancer, bad health the list goes on and on. The die. Not one is living to be 100 plus.
Actually some are more sick later on. Lack of good nutrition… Weaken immune systems. The older women have horrific tiny frames in later years. Bone problems especially women.
They admit it could be from years of this "lifestyle " eating… But are reluctant to admit their faux pas. Most don’t look physically well either.
People think I’m not a day over 35-40. I’m blessed. I’m enjoying this, I’m healthy, doc says no harm once in while. Never giving it up! Ain’t NOO way. Yummy yummy yummy
You don’t have to be sorry. We all make choices.
I personally am not easily led.
It’s like saying organic is truly organic.
They too use pesticides.
Fda approved of course. Wink wink which is more comical.
Very very few organic farming is done with nothing and you’ll pay 50 bucks for a tomato from them.
I have looked into the back payers who FUND some of the disinformation that’s out there.
It’s comical. I’m not going there. It’s redundant.
You’re not one bit healthier than me based on what you believe.
I’d actually put my money where my mouth is and post pictures along with all my blood panels for the last year.
I really wouid.
This crazed philosophy along nothing and I mean nothing to validate it, is boring.
Check out who funds your "Studies "and come back.
I don’t need you to feel sorry for me. I have an incredible life without fear.
But your true concern is touching.
I am British. We often use the word sorry. It is cultural.
I don’t eat processed crap and I also think everone else would be better if they didn’t do so either. Shakespeare wrote “Methinks he doth protest too much” and that seems to apply to your response to my fairly mild reaction to a post about processed food substitute.
It is great that you believe you are healthy. Keep it up.
Actually um you posted on my opinion. Not the other way around. But I protest too much. Um OK
I hope the trend continues and it doesn’t fade away like fad diets do. I would love to see it become an acceptable normal way of eating in society’s eyes.
If keto fades away it will be back again under a new name before you know it. Also, my guess is that a lot of people who talk about “doing keto” are probably actually eating a moderately low carb diet.
I joined a free weekly weight loss program offered by my company health plan and while there’s the usual CICO emphasis, there’s a lot of content about lowering carbs too. I was a little surprised - I would have expected more dogma about how you shouldn’t get less than X carbs per day. (My main criticism of the program is that there doesn’t seem to be much of a coherent philosophy - it’s mostly “do your best, everything in moderation” which has never really inspired me.)
No. I posted in response to a food substitute piece by @363bb931589d6ea9590d.
I will argue with anyone who pushes fake food and @363bb931589d6ea9590d seemed to be doing just that.
You don’t have to agree with me. I don’t have to agree with you. We can however discuss these issues without getting personal or snippy.
I couldn’t agree with you more. However, I hate to see the mega food processing conglomerates cashing in on this, because they are the major contributors to the world’s health woes…
Regarding the OP, we need to be in the forefront denouncing the processed " Keto " crap, for the crap it is…
I read the ingredients. The chicory root would kill my stomach…HOWEVER if someone wants to have a cake for a birthday…why not use it??
Because it might kill their stomach?
Why does a recipe need Chicory Root?
Who would ever eat chicory root if given a choice of things to eat?
People who eat beets, okra, and Marmite?
Come on, folks! Don’t dis chicory root until you’d tried the pride of New Orleans: Café du Monde coffee.
That number is me. This is my post. Not sure why my name isn’t included. It’s my box my picture and It is personal. You just said you’d argue about it.
You just said that.
Here is the thing. It hasn’t in my 55 years affected me.
It hasn’t. I have the proof.
Why would you then continue to think you’d argue me out of something that has no negative affect on ME personally?
Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean the world should bow.
We have huge groups of people who now wish to burn books in my country because they claim them to be hate driven.
So… Ban books?
That’s my point. This cancel culture push isn’t going to ever affect me. We left your country to be free.
Free we’ll stay. So you believe what you want. I believe what I want. That’s freedom. I will never show up on one of your posts to argue my view because it’s none of my business what you believe.
For me it’s bigger than this box of cake mix. I’m not easily led. I’m not a follower.
That was my point.
I’ve actually had that. wasn’t a huge fan. I’ll stick to my boring 8 o’clock regular roast coffee and continue to avoid cake, keto or otherwise.
I read/heard on a book/podcast, can’t remember who said it, but that some people just can’t moderate. If “everything in moderation” worked for me, I never would have reached 250lbs. But it doesn’t and I know that now. A bite of regular cake is a slippery slope for me. A bite of this newfangled “keto” cake? Who knows. I’m not going to find out.
It seems a wise decision. I always thought that if it’s not a big sacrifice to eat cleaner, simpler, better, one should do it (of course it’s very individual so everyone should decide it for themselves. I should choose the path where more enjoyment is waiting for me, usually at least, I don’t always do that but it’s my default. And I appreciate failed experiments too. I just don’t want to repeat them many times). But if one must eat something and the difference is mostly the carb content…
I can relate but one may change on keto.
I got better with moderation in the last (low-carb) decade, that’s good too but I am a totally different person on carnivore(-ish) regarding my relationship with food. It’s not really about moderation there, of course (except in some not carnivore items I eat in tiny amounts) but abstinence is way easier on it. I don’t stick to it for long just like with my original keto but I can stay longer and easier on it, I don’t feel very restricted and don’t really get wrong desires. Not like wanting sweets is wrong in my book, per se but it may be problematic and I long for a life without sweeteners and added sugars (except occasionally, maybe. but if I lose interest, so be it) and it seems doable now.
Who eats a bite of cake? I was more like the 4-20 slices of person myself (I did 30 once when I attended a cake competition, not big slices but still) but zero works too (when I made and ate cakes, they were satiating AND small). The in-between is tricky or doesn’t make sense to me. It’s like one pancake, impossible. I am proud if I stop before 5… But my pancake is proper food even when it happens to be dessert. I can’t be moderate with eggs. And it’s fine and dandy as long as my desserts has proper macros and ingredients. So that’s my route, making them great and not some overly fatty and sweet thing as a cake tends to be (others may afford added fat and lots of cream, I don’t).
But on carnivore, I just eat eggs normally and it’s even better.
It’s good we have options.
Me a carb addict? No way. I’ve never been a cake eater to begin with. The thought of birthday cake is just gross Never really a sweets eater either. I was just eating a regular carby diet before I started Keto in January 2019. If I had of known years ago about how bad carbs were I would have dumped them before now.
My statement was for the ones that can’t just have one piece of cake. The true carb addicts won’t stop at one piece. I had a friend who was on Keto. She’s a carb addict, She blew 6 months of Keto on one potato. After that one, there was another and other carbs followed suit. So for some it’s best to just stay away from the real or the faux carb things.
That was my concern for the newbies
