Calculators really are a bit of a crapshoot! The Ruled Me one works out well for me in terms of calories/protein needed (I’m actively trying to gain muscle) but It could well just be a coincidence. Helps that I have no trouble with higher protein too.

No, not at all if you are fat adapted and have body fat to burn. At some point we get close enough to goal that in order get there we have to restrict. Your metabolism only slows down in response to it not having it’s energy needs met. In the past for me this would be because I was doing low fat and my body couldn’t access my fat stores. Limiting to 1500-1700 won’t do anything to my metabolism.
