Is it just me?

It seems they both come powdered but apparently when the whole psyllium husk is used it’s called “whole psyllium husk powder” which is apparently better for baking?

I haven’t tried either so I don’t know in any case.

It’s not just you.
I wasn’t a big bread lover anyway but I liked some rustic sourdough to carry my thick butter and cumquat marmalade (really miss the cumquat marmalade though).
My SO is a big bread lover and we make keto bread for him, otherwise he won’t do keto. But I rather not eat it - it’s just not the same. It’s pretty good, but not the same.
If I want a slice of sourdough (for the cumquat mainly), I’ll just have some and be done with it. It’s happened once in 4 months - I think I can live with that.

Chaffles are as about as far as I am willing to go.

Mine just says ‘psyllium husk powder’ on the front, but on the back, it says husk and seed. I rarely cooked before keto and my husband still does most of the cooking while I’ve taken the baking and fat bombs. I can’t imagine there’s a difference, but my imagination in this area doesn’t extend very far.

@late_to_the_party
When do you eat the fat bombs?

(Troy Mitchell) #26

When I am hungry between meals which is usually a result of not eating enough for one meal.

The chaffles have been a godsend. For years, I picked up “sandwiches” by the meat or put some type of lettuce wrap under them or made cloud bread (not often) or just used a knife and fork (if burgers or hot ham/cheese). Something like hot ham and cheese is darn near impossible to pick up and eat without something to help hold it.

The chaffles fulfill that purpose.

Exactly what Reyort said. I have more difficulty than it seems many have. I am often hungrier after a meal than before, and I’m eating more than my 6’3" very active husband. I lost 20 lbs in the first few months and nothing since (7 months total). I’ll eat what I think is enough and has the right macros and then add fat bombs if I’m still hungry. There’s hundreds of recipes on the internet. I use 1/3 butter, 1/3 coconut oil and 1/3 cream cheese with various flavorings and sweeteners. I keep them in the freezer.

This is one of my favorite recipes.

Not one fake bread worked for me. In fact all those ‘substitute foods’ were useless to me. I want the real thing, not a fake LOL

I dropped it all. There is nothing you can’t eat without bread ya know. Seems weird at first when you ‘want to make a sandwich’ kinda thing but in truth, a sandwich is not needed in one’s life. All ingredients can be eaten on a plate without fake bread LOL

Yea just try things and when you find something you do like, keep it. Stuff you don’t like, ditch it out and find all new ways to make your new eating changes enjoyable. Make is all about you and find ways to eat so well to suit you and you got it whipped!!

Yup. I just make roll ups with sliced meats, cheese, spinach, and mustard. It makes a great handy meal. Toss in some avacado oil if you need more fat.

Yes, just leave bread off the list… It’s peasant food! LOL.

The most important thing I did was to walk away from it completely.
Yeah, I tried a few things… But totally not worth it.

Now I look at Bread, Cakes, Donuts… Like plastic Fruits! Not edible.

I am nowhere near perfect as I realize the addictive side of eating, and eating for emotional support, and how stress REALLY knocks my glucose around (Just happened last week when I crashed a couple of Oracle Servers… Lets just say I was squirting Cortisol like a Vegan does Flatulence!

Be careful with psyllium powder - it expands with liquids. Add very slowly , give it a minute, add a tad more, until you have the desired consistency. I use it for gravy, just meat juices, spices and psyllium powder.

They all equally suck. When I do decide to have bread which I do from time to time I buy Schmidt’s low carb bread. 6g net per slice and tastes like real bread. Side by side real bread is still better, but only by a little.
