I cringed at the Socialist comment too. I personally believe health care (along with food, shelter and education) should be basic human rights in this wealthy country (US). It is our responsibility to care for each other, including those who cannot care for themselves. Beyond these basics, you can earn all the extra money you want and keep it for yourself.

@RiHill Maria, I’ve always shared your beliefs, but in the last few months I’m almost reconsidering (and for the first time in my - generally very opinionated - life I don’t even know what I would advocate…). I’m just worried that with the power of pharmaceuticals in the US now, the more we go in the direction of govt paying for health care, the more things would be set up to favor them (and not our health or budget).

Yeah you don’t want the government weasels paying for it, they’d short change it while pork barreling for themselves. That’s why it should be in a separate levy so it’s not discretionary spending for the government. All they get to do is choose the board of the quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisation (QANGO) that runs the scheme.

THANK YOU! It is REALLY getting annoying! Release what’s in you? You mean release even MORE insulin? That will only make it worse! Then they have the nerve to talk about not using it if you have diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Besides that nobody with T2 and any pancreatic function left will get DKA, but who would take any medicine while you are IN THE MIDDLE OF DKA?!!! GO TO THE HOSPITAL!

Having been imprisoned by Socialism most of my life, and almost jailed for having an opinion, let me just say the USA is the greatest country on earth. I have walked the wards and seen “Nil by Mouth” on the beds of the inconvenient, and those without family. Clearly our perspective is different, so I respectfully disagree.

the sad part is while there prescribing these drugs the Gov is subsidising them upward of $2.8Bil p/annum
when they could be educating them first, because we’re in deficit they target the low hanging fruit, the people in need of help, no brainer for Scotty,
but hey there’s more money in sick people than dead or healthy
worse we are ALL to blame for our situation by a sheer compliant attitude,
we need more Trumps to kick start actual action, by that i mean people will revolt

Agree with “Nightly Propaganda @ 6pm” - we record the evening news, but we only watch it once a month (maybe) - we generally catch local news for the fluff and the weather, not much beyond that…sad in general about the media these days…
