I may have a mild peanut butter addiction

I do t think so. It’s not out of hunger that I crave it. I almost always put at the very end of my meals when I have it. For one I want to make sure I have room in my macros carb wise and two, the hope is I’m pretty full and won’t keep going back for more.
I start off with a half tablespoon telling myself that will be all. But before I know it I justify another and another and another. When I hit the 2 tablespoon total, I almost always cut myself off.

But it’s difficult. I’m craving it right now just thinking about it.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #22

The only way to deal with some addictive substances, whatever they be:

Step 1: Put off having some until tomorrow.

Step 2: Repeat.

I just took what was left of the jar and threw it away.
I poured water in in first for good measure, least I be tempted to do some trash diving latter tonight.
Probably wouldn’t happen, but you can never be too cautious.

Peanut butter addicts need to read this. In 1996 in Australia more than 500 people got ill after consuming peanut butter contaminated with Salmonella. 50 cases were linked to a well known brand, where the peanuts had been contaminated with mouse droppings in the roasting process. I’ve never eaten peanut butter since.

Bacon wrapped mouse droppings! Hmmm?

I don’t know about this one. Fill that baby with cream cheese and I’m all over it though.

Not sure if it’s an urban legend or not, but I learned in HS Govt class that peanut butter is allowed a certain amount of eat droppings per batch as it’s impossible to keep it completely out.

It did make some stop eating it for a while. Alas, addictions overcome reason and even disgust.

I could just make my own…

No, that’s a rabbit hole I don’t need to go down.

Thanks for that bit of info, that really does settle it for me! …lol.

We had a small meat processing company in Adelaide Garibaldi poisoned 23 people, one child died due to e-Coli bacteria picked up in the production of Mettwurst, that was 1995. The company was a serial food safety offender and had poisoned 100 guests at a wedding in 1991 with Salmonella.

Needless to say I don’t eat mettwurst anymore either!
