If you have a great life running a giant company, and see a great future for your kids. I think almost everyone would keep hanging on the bad data to keep your company alive. I live in sugar country, the entire town is thriving due to sugar, the hospital was built by sugar money. Doctors work for the sugar company, when asked is sugar bad there answer is “that is not proven”.
The odd part is the primary share holders and there families must not get high on there own supply because they are not fat.

Classic conflict of interest. I wouldn’t trust that doctors opinion. He is naturally biased.

of course he is, Not only that would you openly go against the “God Father” ?

Although there’s all carb snacks at my work, I am lucky my manager tried keto for a month and got her goal weight met. We are also starting a team fitness program ranging from an extra walk to quit smoking. Whatever the goal is for us individually. Winning team gets $50!
(food for thought).

For those among us old enough, might remember when another industry fought tooth-and-nail against the tide of evidence against them. Besides, re-watching Martin Short’s “Nathan Thurm” is always a delight: SNL Segment with Nathan Thurm

I believe this discussion is becoming pedantic, i.e., whether there’s a conspiracy or not. I see a corollary to Godwin’s Law: once you claim a conspiracy, there is no where else for the conversation to go. I suspect this is why Nina Teicholz is careful not to “go there.”

Another perspective: never attribute to malice that which you can attribute to incompetence. Regardless of motivations, the doctors whom tow the old line will have quite a stain on their reputation.

I was going to post that quote as well, but I couldn’t remember who said it!

I like to address it the same way you do!
I know I appear looney but I feel such a strong need to “set the record straight “ that I can’t seem to use the “kinder gentler” approach lol!

Love this… I thought I was the resident loon too and had many an argument with friends and family about low carb and the benefits.
Have since discovered that my cousin (who works for a drug company in the obesity field) and his wife have started cutting carbs with the inevitable consequences… lost weigh, less heartburn etc…
Also some very old friends have done it as well and both report feeling better and getting slimmer (even though they are very lazy with it). Even my sister who is as fat phobic as they some has started carb reduction (no bread, cakes etc) although she still insists on red milk (skimmed in the UK) or white water as I call it. Still baby steps…

Most people can do very well with health and fat by only doing two simple things. Stop consuming sugars and wheat, in many cases it can be that simple.
