I appreciate the OP’s personal frustration with the lack of relevant scientific research, but I also imagine that if he felt his situation was something that he “alone has to deal with” then posting about it openly on an internet forum may not be an ideal way to embrace that goal.
High CAC Score
I cut my elderly father’s hair. I always remind him that he gets what he pays for.
My mother had great cholesterol and as a whole, health minus random stupid things here and there, then those wonderful drugs… fast forward and 4 strokes in a couple of years. Oh ya, and COVID twice
Your probably right the CT scans were looking at my lungs and not directly at my arteries.
I apologize, I have been on vacation with very limited to no internet. My response to you was not kind to say the least and for that I am sorry. I do appreciate the conversation on this forum but take it as that conversation and not medical advice.
Your right, I posted on a forum and I do appreciate the feedback, but at the end of the day I am the one that is living with this. FYI… I have stopped taking the statins on my own, didn’t like the way it made me feel. Have not seen my doctor to inform him I don’t see him till the 19th. I apologize if I came across frustrated with the conversation on the forum was not my intention.
Covid was hard on me but the treatment drugs Remdesivir, Baricitinib I believe were just as damaging. I was getting a shot in my stomach everyday in the hospital, the doctors said it was to keep my blood from clotting from the medication. Still not sure if that is the cause of my CAC scan.
Ouch! I remember reading about Remdesivir, supposedly pretty impressive for the people that when they get COVID, it’s not just a stupid cold for them, but remember reading something to the effect of it being a last resort treatment because of other issues it causes, I’d (think) that an Anti-Viral wouldn’t cause a high CAC though, anti-virals can be pretty rough as a whole. But when ya need them…
You’re in good company… the proportion of patients who decide to stop taking their statins is rather overwhelming for a prescription drug. And it is believed by these researchers to be a wise choice … this might be of interest:

I’ve highlighted some of the more relevant passages. Hang in there!
The Ketogenic Forums have two dogmata (Richard favours the Greek plural):
- Show us the science.
- Figure out what works for you.
So we tend to share what we know, but if it sounds weird or wrong, you can always ask for references to the literature. And in the end, scientific evidence only goes so far, in the face of individual variability.
In my book, I figure I’m free to ignore anyone who tries to tell me what to do, but I might just profit from paying attention when people talk about their experience and about what they’ve learned.
