Give him a blast of David Diamond, Ivor Cummins, or Dave Feldman!
Help me defend these lab results
I guess I’m the only one who would be “thank you for the prescription” and then toss it or never fill it. I applaud those that are willing to educate their doctors. I hate doctors (not for any historical reason) and just want to get in and out quickly.
I really do think that’s great! Doctors make me sketchy so thanks for towing the line!
Interesting challenge. I think though that I would stick with the normal advice and request references to the RCTs that prove that lower cholesterol lowers all cause mortality. Once they hear you saying those words, they kinda know that you’ve done your research, because people don’t talk to them about RCTs and all cause mortality!! In my experience, they back off and just mark you down as “refused statins”. That covers them legally.
Cheers

copying and pasting those statement. Should I assume that RCT stands for randomized controlled trial?

Well aren’t you the acronym-savvy one! But then again, with all the research and reading you do, I’m not really surprised. Thanks!

I am really sorry for all the TLAs. I just get sick of writing long words over and over!
Nah, I riddle over these abbreviations too!
And then I’m real proud when I figure one out
My Dad’s gf is vegan and ever since he retired and started eating her diet full time a couple of years ago his health has steadily declined.
But his cholesterol numbers look good!!!
He had more energy and vitality when he ate more meat. He just had a heart valve replaced.
You mean they are going down? This is probably why he’s unhealthy. Clear evidence that as you get older the higher the cholesterol level the healthier you are. Ref Nina T. He needs a good steak!
Nicely done. I hadn’t thought of anything yet. I just typed a few random letters.
The magnificent Dr. Zoe Harcombe has complied a boatload of research on this topic. I’m linking one blog post here that specifically addresses differences between men and women, and all-cause mortality.Cholesterol & heart disease – there is a relationship, but it’s not what you think
I pulled a divided quotation here as an example:
“For women, higher cholesterol levels are quite significantly associated with lower CVD deaths and lower cholesterol levels are quite significantly associated with higher CVD deaths…High cholesterol is not even associated with high heart disease, let alone does it cause it. It gets worse. I then kept the cholesterol information and changed the death rates to total deaths – all deaths from any cause – cancer, heart disease, diabetes, strokes – all deaths. You can see the diagrams for men and women again below. This time there is a significant relationship for both men and women: 0.66 for men and 0.74 for women – again inverse. There is a significant association between higher cholesterol levels and lower deaths and lower cholesterol levels and higher deaths for men and an even more significant relationship for women.“
