Oh, and lawd if I can do it, you SO can. I’ve been keto since 6/27, but I turned lazy keto in September. I average around 8-12 pounds per month. YOU CAN DOOOOO it.

I was actually just shopping yesterday and held up a pair of size 14 pants and was like ā€œLook at how small these are! I thought I was so fat when I wore these, but I was normal!!! What I wouldn’t give.ā€ It just seems so far off right now.

Way to go Katie! Woot Woot!

(Ellen) #25

Hell yeah!!! Go you!

You can DO IT! I swear to God, I literally had given up. Completely. I thought I would never be below a size 20 again. If I can, you can. Just don’t give up on yourself. You’ll hit bumps, you’ll be ready to give up sometimes… Just don’t. Stay the course. GOOD LUCK!

And thanks to everyone for the encouragement!

Yeah, I’m almost at the three month mark, too, and I haven’t lost anything yet. Or I lose two pounds and promptly go back up to my starting weight. I’m being told it’s because I don’t have much to lose (I need to lose around 15 pounds to the weight I’m most comfortable with) But I did expect I’d at least lose a third of that by now. I’ve done everything, keep carbs below 20 net, 0.5 grams protein per pound of LBM, I’ve been doing IF for the past two weeks, I’ve tried calorie restriction then no calorie restriction…and nothing. I’m stuck at 144 no matter what.

You can definitely celebrate! That’s amazing!!! Congrats!!!

And can I ask how much you weighed at the beginning, and how much you have to lose overall?

That’s great and an inspiration to all those starting!

I think for those of us on the less-overweight side it’s super important to remember that the body prioritizes healing over notions of weight. The body - in its great intelligence - is transforming fat marbled muscle tissue into lean muscle tissue, it’s dissolving visceral fat, it’s releasing adipose fat and holding water as that cycles. If we’re doing IF a few days a week, or an EF once a year - the body may also be changing pre-cancerous states or shrinking little tumors we don’t even know we have.

A lean 150 pounds is a completely different body than non-lean 150 pounds. Clothing size-wise as well as strength-wise.

The ketogenic way of life is about physiological health, including cardiac health from better circulation and more muscle mass.

For those of us who do resistance training to speed myogenic mitrochondrial metabolic healing, we may see a faster leaner body but not much change on the scale AT ALL. In fact, some emaciated types may gain a few pounds of much needed solid muscle! For midlife females - even non-overweight - it’s def a slower process still - but it’s oh so wonderful to rejuvenate and shapechange!!!

I ignore scales entirely - and only measure. Since last May I’ve lost 4 inches off my upper waist, a half inch off my upper arms, an inch from both upper and lower hip… which indicates also that many wonderful unseen things have been happening on the inside. There are threads here on this forum where folks name all the non-scale-victories… and for me, this also surprisingly includes eyelash growth! :sunglasses:

Fat doesn’t ā€œConvertā€ to muscle, but it may APPEAR that way! lol
