First extended fast any suggestions?

I’ve been intermittent fasting since September started w/16 hour fasts then in October started 20 hour fasts M-F then this month I started 36 and 48 hour fasts. I’m ready to start my first extended fast I’m going to shot for a 5 day fast starting Monday. Any suggestions from those who have do this and what can I expect?

I recommend going to YouTube and getting the Snake Juice Diet salt mix (the “new” one) - called “Snake Juice”. The speaker is hard to listen to for some - it is “motivation” by degradation (but it works for some - honesty level is through the roof).

I have found his salt mix (with pepper) can let me easily fast as long as I want (even his “old” mix - just salt and potassium works well).

What you’ll get on a 5-day fast is a wonderful feeling about day 3.
If you do not have an external reason (social event, pre-planned dinner with someone etc.) after day 5 you’ll feel you can easily stretch it.

Plan to break your fast with 3 or 4 hours of alone time near a bathroom - if it is your first long fast you may find that necessary.

Plan out how to break your fast ahead of time. Plan a small meal an hour or so before. You can break your fast in the evening after work, but plan on staying home, you will be fine after 3-4 hours, but definitely near a bathroom. Don’t try to take a walk either.

Make sure you are drinking enough, water and salt. If you get really hungry go for a cup of homemade bone broth.

Enjoy after day two it gets much easier.

That first day at hours 23-26 and then most of the second day between 40-48 can be tough and will need mental strength more than anything. After 48 hours you will begin to cruise. Day three is when it starts to get easier. Days 4, 5 and 6 will let you know why it was worth the early pangs and waves. And just watch the weight peel off — and a lot of that will be fat.

And, remember the water and electrolytes and I don’t recommend any crutches unless desperately needed. Very little coffee and tea — nothing added. If you’re going to do it, do it the way that is best for you.

But opinions differ on what you can have on a strict fast.

I have bone broth already to go. Was planning on sauteed mushroom soup with bone broth as my first meal back.

I’ve done 48 hours and found during a very busy work week it frees up a lot of needed time in my schedule and actually found not having to prep or even think about food quite freeing. I was never hungry and found it much easier than I thought.
