I’m so insanely jealous of your picanha.

meal one was raw round steak and suet with bone broth jello. Meal two was flank steak. Someone asked me on here about the flank steak and I discovered I had one more in the freezer. So this is what it looks like raw. Sleep was truly awful. I lay awake almost the whole night. I’ve not been drinking enough lately and it’s been giving me a lot of cramps. My feet have been seizing all evening this evening.

You had me at Double Baconater :heavy_heart_exclamation:

(Judy Thompson) #163

Shinita, you’re still here, that outweighs everything. If you want to be back to carnivore you will be!

@Azi I Google a lot of the times and temps. I do my whole chicken at 165 for 6 hours, 9 if frozen. I prefer to start frozen, throw it in there at bedtime and take it out on the morning, ice it and refrigerate. Beef roasts, chuck and ribs are all 136°. The shank steak and bony ribs took 3½ days from frozen. I set it at 72 hours, put them in Sunday night and took them out Thursday morning! They took us through the weekend. The chuck roast we had today I cooked from frozen for 24 hrs @135. Wish I’d taken photos, it was nice and rare inside.
I used to make a lot of egg bites. Now I’d probably use cream and bacon. 45 minutes in greased 4 oz jars.
Did your oven come with a table of times and temps? They’re in a lot of sites.
Good to remember that more time doesn’t overcook it, it just tenderizes it more.
I’d love to see that oven!

Staying on plan.

NoFUN breakfast. 2 coffees, second one without any dairy (baby steps). No breakfast cheese relapse. Breakfast is 3 pasture-fed chicken eggs with 3 slices middle bacon. Last night and tonight will be scotch fillet steak. I have some Castello Blue cheese that goes well with the steak. I have had a cup of bone broth both these two afternoons as I work on the computer doing admin tasks. The heat wave is over and we have had a cold front and cooler weather come in from out in the ocean. Billie had a great “freedom run” off-leash at the beach yesterday as there was only a couple of travelling surfers.

Whereabouts is that @FrankoBear? Are you North Coast? I am in far south coast of NSW.
Cheers
Alec

wonderful posts on the board with great pics.

today is another beef day. I am really hankering for some chicken wings now. I might have some, even tho I said beef/water for this month, a few wings ain’t gonna mean anything in a way, it IS still carnivore  but not yet, still holding Lion since I committed to it. So far so good

steak and burgers again today

this Feb. ‘feels’ like a long month already HA

My hunger signals are all over the place this week.

I find that I’m really hungry - stomach growling etc - but sometimes I cook and then I lose interest once I’m eating.

Almost all of my meals are beef. I ended up cooking scrambled eggs (6 of) on Saturday night at midnight because I was too hungry to sleep.

I’d had enough of this on Sunday. I had 500g of beef at lunch and for my evening meal I had 1kg of beef. I carried on eating even though I would’ve stopped around 750-800g because I didn’t want a repeat of midnight hunger - and I thought it would carry me through a bit longer.

Monday morning = it felt as if I’d not eaten for a week.

So I cooked up 500g of ground beef. Had a job to eat 300g of it.

4 hours later, starving - so I finished the 200g. Then I had 500g of sirloin steak and some bone broth - felt satisfied, but then a couple of hours later, I was back to being ravenous again.

This can happen in my cycle but I didn’t think I was that close yet.

Just can’t seem to judge how much to cook and eat at each sitting, and absolutely baffled as to why sometimes I am painfully hungry, eat two mouthfuls and lose interest. Weird.

Looks like he had an extra bull calf in Azerbaijan. I find these videos quite relaxing.

Hold the line! er… Lion!

Wild west.

oh boy did I go thru this and sometimes still it hits but in a smaller form.

around year 2.5 or so?? I got like you with having no idea how much meat to defrost. would I need it? end up wasting it cause I just didnt want it and if the family doesn’t want it? Believe me it drove me nuts for a while…then it all settled back down but I remember it went on for a while.

I relied alot on chicken wings cause I batch cooked and they lasted a good bit in the fridge as a ‘go to’ and I used alot of canned sardines and tuna in a can cause I could just open and eat without defrosting and wasting. I remember I ate alot of beef sticks in that time too :sunny:

I actually ended up throwing out some steaks and more a few times and that drove me more crazy LOL But you defrost it and then do not want it, at all, don’t even wanna cook it and it sits in that fridge and boom, real fast it turns and garbage and alot of times I would fry it up, eat a bite or 2, into fridge for leftovers and they just sat and had to throw out still…so…yea ya can’t win kinda in this stage LOL

I think it is the body being so nourished and more healed that we have a ‘reset time flip’ back to a better natural like established health guideline and balance in our bodies and our body is doing just that…resetting us for the next stage. Cause that is when I really ‘set my meals’ as in eating only 2 times a day, meal 1 bigger, meal 2 smaller later in the day and I got off all extras I needed, I got off all wanting food at different times and more…I became very zc stable in my feeding times…well that kinda is all I could apply to why it goes down like that for many of us

you’re not alone tho, many of us longer on plan goes thru this exact scenario so you are in good company!! You are hitting big milestones that people longer on plan experience, I love it!
just some thoughts!

Well another fairly decent nights kip last night. I was on a late start at work today which is maybe why I slept pretty well, no worrying about getting up at silly o’clock lol.

Stair runs done first thing. Had a couple of slices of roast pork before leaving for work. Back home after 4 as I stopped to get car washed on way home and picked up some bits at lidl on way passed.

Had some more pork roast and followed that with cooked chicken sauted in some leftover fat I had in fridge. Both nice. Also had some cheese. And now in bed at half 8.

Ditto! We love our RV:). So easy to travel in. I love cooking over a campfire! We are definitely campers. When we retire, our plan is to go somewhere warm for a few months (maybe January-March) with the RV before investing in a more permanent place.

On the CV front, things have been status quo for me. I’m still waiting for my sense of taste to completely return following my bout with covid in December. It’s getting there, but I’m still finding the need to salt my food to get the “full” taste of it. This results in water retention, which means the scale goes up. Oh well… I’ve thought so many times about just throwing my scale in the garbage, but I can’t bring myself to do it.

I gave up the treadmill days that I was alternating with my weight days as far as exercising is concerned. It was really causing my legs to swell and I was becoming to OCD about it. I prefer having a rest day between my weight days…

Food has been good. I’m weaning myself off of the bad habit of cheese and sausage I had been indulging on post-covid. That seems to help with some of my water retention. Beef seems to be my best go-to food. Either a ribeye or hamburgers. On weekdays, my body has settled nicely in to OMAD (with the exception of my coffee w/ ghee in the morning). I’m truly hungry when I get home and eat a lot of food. This has resulted in me having excellent sleep at night! I typically would wake up to use the restroom and it would be an hour or more, trying to fall back asleep. Not anymore! Woohoo!

Too many post for me to read today… brain is feeling weary so forgive me for bypassing them all… except @FrankoBear loving his photos.

I have only just posted yesterday contribution as I had to wait to be able to post with having answered too many posts.

Another fairly good sleep albeit not as good as previous 2 nights… not going to argue the toss though. Very stiff and sore back this morning, so much so I nearly cancelled CrossFit. However I did my stair runs and that eased it off and I went even though my head was saying should I shouldn’t I? Lol… well ended up having a great session. I did rower today and started easing myself into it to warm up before the class started. Managed to finish the workout with time cap and did everything but scaled the weight because I get too wobberly still with heavier weights.

Stopped off at The Company Shop on the way home for some kitchen paper roll and i knew I would end up spending more when I got there… and I did lol. Picked up a whole cooked chicken, kilo of lamb ribs, pork loin chops, some cooked ham, cheese and a couple of packets of chicken wings. Got home and found they had over charged me for the lamb ribs so went back and got a £10 refund.

Enjoyed 4 reduced price lidl lamb chops, Pan fried rare very tasty for brunch about 1245hrs. Also had some of the cheddar cheese from Company Shop.

I have some sliced beef to eat up which I defrosted and so will maybe have a nice plate of that for dinner plus some of my home cooked cold roast pork and may even stick some smoked trout with it… we will see, may leave that for another day as it has a longer date stamp on it.

Thanks for your words  Well I am a stubborn one and whenever I stray, it’s no good. Well, sometimes it’s worth it but it’s rare. I typically stray out of necessity. Or compulsion but I think I am better at that.

Most of my post will be about my problems now and I don’t even do true carnivore so be warned, folks.

My problems are still here, today I managed an interesting combo.

  1. Appetite problems so I had to relax my ways a little. Still keto so it could be so much worse… the plant carbs came from my lil extras, it’s not like I eat a non-carni main dish or something. I run out of meat too early, yeah it seems I actually can eat more meat now so I better keep enough ready to eat at hand! Tomorrow I make roast and mincemeat! I actually had plenty of carni food but…
  2. I was starving. For hours. I was somewhat hungry in the last hours before lunch… And then I ate and ate and ate and spent the whole time starving… Eventually I stopped and waited patiently. I am still not satiated at all. I started to eat almost 6 hours ago. Well we can blame the carbs but they can’t be this powerful. I don’t know what is my problem but I was too excited and it made me super tired and when tired, I am often too hungry…
  3. I overate, of course. I wouldn’t even mind, it’s just a slight overeating and I had my workout today. But I am hungry, not in a cute but in a… post-starving, still-not-satiated way…? It’s tiring.

When I overeat and feel starving, that usually happens with lots of carbs and maybe added fat. Not on a keto day with lots of meat and eggs and dairy and very little else :frowning:
Sigh.

BUT at least I know that it doesn’t help to relax my ways at all. So I can go all strict again, I can’t feel worse than this and maybe it helps.
I still don’t know if I should focus on OMAD but today I had to eat early. Maybe I should go an OMAD lunch then. It seems I eat BIG meals now. Or starve. Or both. I am broken I know…

My mood is wonderful though except the annoyance. I am in artistic mood, I want to do things and it’s super rare! So I somehow got an energy/mood boost - but that excites me too much and that is tiring… So I have lots of energy but even more tiredness? Still wouldn’t swap to my low energy dark mood times! I need some last part of the puzzle, it feels… I am almost there…

Around 350g meat and I totally could have eaten more… Especially rabbit, Alvaro gave me a bit but we ate up it all now. It was nice. Not super flavorful but the soft flavor is so nice and the meat is tender… But the old defrosted pork was nice with the stew jelly too…

I ate plenty of protein, even more fat, my eating window wasn’t so big, I avoided non-satiating fats so I don’t understand today. It seems I need one big meal now. If early, so be it, maybe it still works (it is typically tricky if I finish eating 12 hours before I go to sleep. anything beyond 8 hours is tricky but going over 12 hours without getting hungry again? the chances are extremely low)…

So I make my woe stricter again, go for one big meal and try to ignore my inner problems regarding appetite. If I am hungry, I try to eat eggs or meat (or quark, that should be good too and I still have enough), no force but not accepting a mere “no mood for it”. If I can. It does against my core personality. We will see.

Oh I didn’t write about my day. So… I had my usual 3-egg scrambled eggs with some cheese and I ate my leftover pork, both shoulder and thigh. I had leftover PSMF bread muffins, I ate them with leftover salmon spread and I made egg white heavy sponge cakes and ate them with some sausage. I had quark too, mixed with sour cream, it’s a nice dessert. And whatever else I couldn’t resist, Alvaro brought some wonderful fruits… I can’t resist them when tired, hungry (not like it helps with that) and it’s end of winter… I actually felt temptation this time, it’s not uncommon at this time of the year.
But I better behave. If I must be so relaxed and whatnot, at least I shouldn’t do it on weekdays :frowning: Seriously now.

Oh I am horrible with coffee too. At least I didn’t drink many calories today, I can’t afford that now.
My coffees were tiny but I had them early.

I can relate. Sometimes I get hungry with little, other times I eat my daily energy need and feels hungry. Sometimes I can only eat a little meat, sometimes I eat up 1000g fatty pork (okay, it only happened once. 600g is more common, that’s a cute amount for a meaty day, I almost never skip my several eggs and other items and my meat tends to be fatty). And I can’t predict this! It’s somewhat random. That’s why I like keeping various roasts and other stuff in my freezer, ready to eat. I make a big roast and when it’s not plenty anymore, I should make something new… Even if my weird appetite still can mess things up. IDK what is with me lately. It was loads easier before.

And my tiiiiiny meals are in the past, it seems, thankfully. It was annoying to eat again and again and again. Getiing hungry once a day is enough for me.

But why would it be wasting?

  1. Meat lasts pretty long. I can’t even roast enough meat to spoil on me and I don’t eat meat like you folks here. Or it’s because I make roasts? Nope, so many other meat dishes last long…

  2. It’s wonderful to have ready to eat meat in the freezer… So I just put some back, it’s so good I can do it. I do that with lean meat I am not so much into it as Alvaro would never eat it with his impossibly low pace…

Maybe it’s stuff one should eat right away, fresh? I don’t know such meat dishes but my knowledge is still quite limited…

Oh my, throwing out meat… We would never do it. (Well we are savages so when my aunt gave us not refridgerated beef soup (her pantry is cool but not as cold as a fridge) and it turned sour, we still ate it, it was still tasty  And spoiled food never could do any bad to me, of course I have my limits, I don’t eat spoiled MEAT. It was spoiled (well soured. I like sour stuff, sorry) vegetable part with still okay meat. I wouldn’t eat spoiled egg either, of course, that’s horrid. Sour milk is fine, I had that once, half a liter. I wanted milk and I was stubborn and sour dairy is cool… It’s nice I don’t need to worry about my body when I do such things, it handles it just fine.)
But meat lasts almost forever, really, even we eat it up in time. Of course we don’t keep the raw meat in the fridge long, we cook the meat. And the freezer is there so yep, never emerged any chance for our meat to go wrong.

Cracked eggs can be forgotten sometimes but the cats gladly eat them up (they are still okay when I find them, I would eat them if I had no cats but if I can choose, I don’t eat 2 days old yolks. only 5 days old whites. no idea when it spoils, I never could store any long enough to see any problem with it)…

Dairy is pretty safe, we eat them quickly enough, the sour cream stuck to the side of the package may have slight problems but that’s what Caroline, the cat without lactose intolerance is for. She loves sour cream. NOT enough to eat her worm medicine mixed into a lot of sour cream, rabbit stew jelly and even ground up pork… No idea when we can get her the special tasty chewy medicine she loves and eats up in 2 seconds.
She doesn’t understand why she can’t sleep in my bed now. When Tofu (who gladly ate up the medicine already at the “mixed into scrambled eggs” level…) can.

Awww… Pretty plate, pretty food!
I would eat that  Maybe not all right now but tomorrow… Looks absolutely fabulous!

(Karen) #176

Second meal of the day

Cold roast pork and 2 slices of cold beef topside

#177

I find all meat pics nice today. Good. A few days ago not one could charm me. I am totally lost in a meat aversion phase, I can’t function properly there. Theoretically yes, practically not so much.
But I am hopeful now. Today will be a great day. Right?

(Linda ) #178

Todays meat was roast picanha for both meals

(Daisy) #179

I seriously get so jealous of @Azi’s picanha…
@Fangs I’m starting to crave sausage more and more, but I’m hanging in there!

meal one was a burger patty, beef bacon, raw beef liver, and bone broth jello. That didn’t remotely fill me up, but I had a meeting, so it had to do. Meal two I put in the air fryer, then had a work call come in on my computer and completely burned my beef bacon . The ribeye was safe though! And I still ate the bacon. It didn’t make me happy though, so I ended up making the last 2 pieces. Was still a little hungry, so I had a little bit of beef suet (not pictured). Sleep last night was pretty good! I went to bed around 9:30, then got up at 12:30 and 3:30 to pee. Then woke up around 4:30 and lay there until a few minutes before my alarm went off. Turned off the alarm about 6 minutes before it went off at just after 5.

(Robin) #180

personally, I would eat that burned bacon.
