Thank you Michael! I’ll try that tonight…sounds like a fantastic bio hack:100:
Does the Time You Eat Matter?
I’d try that first thing in the morning. Not sure I need that boost while sleeping, but I can see it being very useful during the day. I’ll have to try that soon.
You think the Ginger will give you a boost?
Like, an energy boost?
OP mentioned high glucose in the morning. Increasing fat burn overnight might bring it down.
Michael…who is OP? I’d like to look them up if possible?
BG has become FAR more important to me than the keytone testing (I’m over that). Although I am aware our bodies are ALWYAS going to find a way to create glucose, I still like to keep it at 80 or below (I’d really like it below 80).
I wonder if Jason Fung has video on optimal BG range?
You! OP=Original Post(er).
Acid reflux had me already eating only mornings and lunches before I started keto and IF. There never was a decision for me but I like the idea of getting it all over with by noon - so meals at 7 and noon work for me.
Kelly - normal BG is 80-120. And higher after meals. If you feel good at 80 there’s nothing wrong with that but realize that it takes years to decades for hyperglycemia to kill you but hypoglycemia can kill you in hours. When you’re at 80 it doesn’t take much to happen to get you below 70. (hypoglycemia by diagnostic). You need to be prepared to remedy that with the 15 x 15 rule. 15gm of sugars and check BG in 15 minutes. You go too low and you could lose the ability to make decisions that could save your life. So don’t f around. Keep some fruit juice, glucose tablets, chocolate raisins, etc on hand should you become weak or dizzy and/or confirmed with a BG reading.
Dr. Jason Fung answers the question this post asks,
https://idmprogram.com/the-critical-importance-of-meal-timing-for-weight-loss/
I try to eat this way and I am never hungry in the evening. My normal eating window is approximately breakfast at 9 am and a smaller meal at 2-4 pm. I do make exceptions when my son is here sometimes I eat three meals then. I also have a hiatal hernia and like @ArtMeursault sleep much better without food in my gut. Also I used to have to take omeprazole daily and since eating early only take it on rare occasion 1-2 times a month. I can tell by 9 pm if it’s a problem. Haven’t taken one in weeks. Deny the science all you like saying it doesn’t matter for you, (but really it makes a big difference).
LoL! Not at all!
That used to be my song in elementary school!
That’s if the original poster is diabetic. I’ve been below those ranges when fasting, with zero issues (ketones go way up to compensate for low blood glucose). I’ve seen reports of people fasting with <40 blood sugar with no issues.
I’ve found it I eat meat at night, I have many fewer issues. If I eat vegetables, I can have more issues.
I’m not diabetic… And that’s something to think about
So having more meat at night doesn’t cause a higher blood sugar in the am? No gluconegsis?
Gluconeogenesis is need driven, not supply driven. This is very important stuff.
AFAIK - there is a shedload of data on TRE and IF and it seems to lean towards AM - other times risk resetting circadian
Years of night shift work reset mine and it wants to stay this way.
I do a lot of IFing and 36 hr. fasting, so I gave up on this protocol. Just stop eating about 3-4 hrs. before I want to go to bed.
