Crisis: I really don't like eating this way

And you just don’t prefer that much meat? Or the quantity? I am on the side of bottomless pit. Keto usually keeps me full but I can eat past that. Which is more my history of binge eating disorder.

Have you tried doing any shiratake noodle dishes or zoodle dishes? I couldn’t quite tell from your comment if you prefer more Thai foods.

#63

Are you bottomless in keto too? I lost my appetite a whole lot.
No, I heard of these substitute noodles but I don’t know the recipe, but I know where to find it. I guess I will reach a point when I will open up to the substitute food. Probably soon!
I do like meat but in small quantities like they do in Asia, mixed with vegetables and served with rice. But I don’t only eat Asiatic food. I also love Italian and French because it’s the food I’ve grown up with. It’s rare that a week passes and I don’t eat tomato and mozzarella. Now I am eating it almost every eating day.

You can do vegetarian keto.

Tofu, edamame, tempeh, hemp seed, chia seed, organic cage-free eggs, and, if all else fails, a good quality protein powder.

I am bottomless only bc of my habits. I can eat far beyond satiety. Which I’m trying to stop.

Zoodles are still a whole food. It’s spiraling zucchini. I make a good friend rice with cauliflower rice, zucchini slices, cilantro, green onion, and curry spices plus ginger and garlic and salt. I start with bacon grease but it’s good with coconut oil too. Drop a couple eggs in too. Nom!

There are so many recipes out there. Just keep searching until you find a Keto of whatever dish you like. I also enjoy Maria Emmerich’s Keto cleanse but I have dairy and not issues. This eliminates those.

I am so with you there! Especially meat!

Thanks, someone had already suggested, let’s see when it comes out. It is I think a theme that will come up a lot as keto grows in popularity.

It is at least worth exploring his content to see what he has written so far. Also, check out healthfulpursuit.com

Thank you this is a good list. I love edamame! I’ve never tried hemp seed, I tried hemp oil, which was sold as a super-healthy thing, it had a particular taste, I kind of liked it. Chia seed I must say in this diet I have discontinued because they worsen my bowel problems but as soon as I get more balanced I’ll get back to them as they also have omega 3 . Tofu is mon amour. Tempeh I can’t stand. Eggs I eat them every single eating day and I will eventually grow to hate them wholeheartedly, ha ha!

#71

Sounds good; I will try it. Might add some chopped onion and maybe use beef broth as the base.

Any ideas on how to make keto style pea soup? It is my favorite soup, but I don’t know what to substitute for the peas.

Oh man when I was vegan, tempeh bacon was my jaaaaam! Soak in a marinade then fried up.

#73

Exactly! I have never been a big fan of tofu or soy products.

#74

Here’s the thing. The zucchini are vegetables even if they’re cut spiraled. Instead for me, noodle pasta and rice lover, the whole point of them is that sort of yielding quality they have. That’s why there’s a slice of bread under the jam and croutons in a salad. Because vegetables jam and salad need something firm and solid and basic so you don’t fly away with them. Ok I’ll stop arguing for my own limitations as I can’t have those carbs anyway.
The cauliflower rice is more promising. I’ll try both anyway, thanks!

I’m completing 5 weeks of keto and have already noticed my tastes are changing. I have always liked cheese and ate a lot of it pre-keto, but find that now I don’t eat much at all, 1/2 - 1 oz at most.

#76

Tempeh bacon? what’s that?
I admit that last time I tried tempeh was like 20 years ago, once, and because I hated it so much I never gave it a second chance. Maybe I should.

#77

Ever tried it fried until crispy on the surface, with soy sauce added at the last minute, then added to a salad, or to stir fired vegetables?
I should read a little more about these concerns about hormones…

#78

I don’t cook w/ tofu. I have had it when I am eating out in an Asian restaurant and it’s OK, but I don’t want to mess w/ it myself. And the hormone questions gave me pause as well. As far as tempeh and tofu as fake meat, I would much rather eat the real thing than the fake thing. Tempeh bacon, tofurkey, bleaghh!

#79

Yeah those hard things they sell in supermarkets are horrible.

Sub out the agave and syrup for a low carb sweetener like erythritol or Xylitol. Be careful they take a second for your body to get used eating. Or Stevia or just omit.

It sounds like you are still adapting hence desire for bread and pasta. Keep at it and I know there are versions on fettuccine made of egg and cream cheese I heard Carl talk about.
