Cravings caused by hormones

You should notice that your cramps decrease considerably (or disappear altogether!). Sorry if I missed it: how long have you been keto?

I started in October last year. I’d dropped 7kg then it rose rapidly in Feb/March (it was a bad month) this year. I got carb manager in June and realised I was going way over the top with a number of different foods .The weight is starting to drop again.

Your menu looks like it is fairly low in calories. Could it be that your body is trying to increase calories during your period to make up for your calories being too low the rest of the month?

That maybe a possibility. I’ve been focusing on keeping my carbs to 16 or under and calories to under 1200. I was hitting quite high in my fats and low in protein so have been cutting fats as much as poss. With a drop in appetite I should maybe look at my percentages and adjust them.

Keto is not supposed to be low calorie. It is “eat to satiety.” Some days you will not want much food and some days you may want more. You need to listen to your body, but use real, keto foods.

It’s also not really percentages either. It’s 20-30 grams of carbs, grams of protein based on your lean mass, and then fat to satiety.

I was aiming for the percentages calculated on carb manager till I reached goal weight, then move on to maintenance. I’ve been finding it easy to reach fats, but not protein, usually because I’m full and don’t want more. I should maybe look again at the strategy I’m using.
