So this is Carly right now, smacky magacky, flat out on her back on ‘my’ couch.
I have the sound table volume turned up for the monkeys, and this is how she responds:
To be fair, Carly always preferred a bit of rave. disco or hip hop…

Of course it will, and that doesn’t matter. You’ll reload liver and muscle glycogen, and then you’ll burn it back off. Not a big deal.
I tried a couple of things, thinking it wouldn’t spike my blood sugar (T2 Diabetes), but it wasn’t worth the worry. It did drop pretty fast again, down to normal, safe levels, but my T2 is fixed, well, I doubt I’ll ever be cured, but if Keto works for me, and I keep my weight down, why fix it Plus, I’ve noticed I don’t want all those things with the high carbs and sugars, seems so stupid to me. I’m glad it does affect me that way, fortunate. I also don’t care what people think or say about the way I eat
having said the previous reply, I don’t see anything wrong with cheating once in awhile, as long as you don’t start craving more. I know some folks “personally” that literally have to eat the whole cake, or bag of goodies Funny I was always shy of sugary candy etc, cakes, but I was eating lots of potatoes, processed foods, stuff like that
I’m an all or nothing gal, so have to stay within my lane.
Sounds like you have found your groove. And loved the videos! A glimpse into some fabulous views. lucky lady.
This is what I do before I go anywhere they will have food/snacks Works great for me!
I think I met that guy, very briefly, then I hurried out to try and locate where I left my car!!
amen to that, darling dog btw I even leave all the fat on my steak, that blobs you find around the edges of some?? It’s delicious except for the super gristle in some of it
That to me is a Godsend. I’ve never experienced that on any other “diet.” It was always torture.
Agreed - in fact, now I take almost perverse pleasure in it!
LOL, we are a lot alike, perverse pleasure, almost
I hate even calling it a diet when so many folks relate it to deprivation or starving
That’s why when people ask what I can eat on keto, I say I can eat whatever I want.
It’s true. I don’t mention carbs. I may say I’ve cut out sugar. No one disagrees with that concept.
Nothing perverse in eating the food that the Big Man designed us humans to eat.
Wait…you do identify as human, yes?
Phew…thank the Maker!
I have the same view, that’s why I never ever write about cheating. I don’t cheat, I can’t cheat, I go off my default woe Accidentally or intentially, it’s worth it or not, very, very rarely I even may regret it (I never feel any quilt though, why would I?) but it’s food, I can’t cheat with it.
I accept other views and whatever floats other people’s boat… As long as their wording helps them (or just don’t bother them) instead of hurting them.
But I always lose my mind a tiny bit when I read about cheating with food in Hungarian and they use the verb “sinning”. And they do it a lot.
No. It’s not a sin to eat some treat even if it’s a stupid and unhealthy idea. Not even if it’s 3 donuts at 3am.
It’s a sin to eat your neighbour or their dog. Usually.
Yeah. I rarely went off low-carb but it was serious then. Not a whole proper cake, cakes are too fatty, I couldn’t And there are other people. But I was in festivals with free homemade cakes, there was variety (light, not so fatty-sugary ones too) and small pieces… 20 wasn’t a problem.
But it happened rarely and I felt okay-ish so it was still somewhat fine in my books (I couldn’t resist anyway). Amounts matter but when amounts are huge, frequency matters
I hate compulsions though so if it’s something I really can’t resist, no matter what (I mean, I must eat them even if I don’t feel a true desire) and it doesn’t change in several years, that’s kind of a problem.
And eating a whole “proper”, fatty cake, that is a whole lot of problems, probably… That’s way beyond even my abilities or self-indulgence.
I can relate though I always find tolerant people who are impossible to shock with my ways…
But my SO managed to shock their coworkers a few times… With the simplest things like eating yogurt with chopsticks (he doesn’t do it normally but they had problems with his perfectly normal food while it wasn’t their business and doing worse things…).
I am more like the “eating sour cream with fork” type of person. That’s not so extreme but I do it normally when I don’t find a spoon before I find a fork. Forks work so well for most dishes… I like forks.
And never owned a spork, that must be awesome for someone like me.
I often call my diet a diet as it is I can’t help other folks feel negative about the word and they usually think of the other definition, not the one I use…
FWIW, the term sin (transgression) comes from word sinister - which means “left” (as opposed to “right”).
“Left” in French is gauche (clumsy, awkward). And left-handedness was long seen as evil by many, especially several generations ago. It’s all devilish sinister stuff.
On the other hand ( ), we believe the right side is the “correct” side. Whether it’s being on the right side of history, or being in the right on any particular issue.
We have inalienable “rights” (human rights) and most of us wish to act “righteously.” (But not self- righteously )
Much of this goes way back. The Bible is filled with references to one’s strength being on one’s right - most favored guests are seated to the right of the host, whereas the left is the side of weakness and ill deeds. Jacob’s most beloved youngest son, Benjamin, literally means Son of my Right. (Ben-Yamin)
This stuff has remained fairly consistent across Western culture over the aeons.
Back to keto: In organic chemistry, molecular formations that turn to the left are known as sinister conformation. You may be interested to know that molecular conformations that turn to the right are known as rectus. Don’t get me started.
Thank you, I love etymology! It was interesting. And a bit sad. I got remembered about my knowledge about how left-handed people were handled in the past (and surely even now somewhere). But at least they weren’t black goats.
The combining forms are often laevo- and dextro-, abbreviated L- and D-. For example, glucose is really L-glucose (I believe I have that right), and dextrose is D-glucose. Sometimes it makes a difference, because the two forms of a given molecule don’t always behave identically, especially in the body.
@PaulL Yes indeed. Glucose-related naming is certainly a more keto-friendly topic around here. I was referring to the more generic chiral center naming conventions for stereoisomers used in organic chemistry…
The Cahn-Ingold-Prelog system is a set of rules that allows us to unambiguously define the stereochemical configuration of any stereocenter, using the designations ’ R ’ (from the Latin rectus , meaning right-handed) or ’ S ’ (from the Latin sinister , meaning left-handed).
R- and S- is a system I’ve never encountered before. PubChem.org uses L- and D-, which is what I grew up with, so I never thought about it. But a simple glance at PubChem shows a plethora of naming conventions, most of which are completely opaque to me, lol!
