Buying organ meats for the first time

#21

Hi Bill. I’m waiting for them to finish developing their website too so I can note down prices before hand. Their organ meats are very reasonable. I bought ox liver just under £2, I’m sure the lamb liver is also a similar price. The minced lamb was £3.30, for about half a kg. I’m writing that from memory as they’ve posted none of their prices online. I didn’t really get a chance to properly look at what they have, and I just grabbed some things to try. I saw they had some water buffalo burgers which I might try next time, but they also had a whole counter of fresh meats I didn’t peruse. But if you’re buying in bulk, if you have a portable cooller, and a good size freezer at home, it might be worth the journey. But there are no guarantees how well stocked they will be at any given time as I imagine their meats going quickly at their current prices.

Hi Shinita, in the 0.5kg bag of liver there are 4 liver pieces. So I ate one piece yesterday, and one today, and I figure at that amount it can’t hurt. Today the liver tasted better. It actually worked so well with the eggs, and also by pairing them with the eggs, it becomes a nice first nutritious meal as eggs alone don’t give me satiety. I cooked the ox liver lightly again, but more than yesterday, and cut it into small pieces on the plate.

Next time I will try the lamb liver, I have decided. And I will try different organs over time, like tongue, and heart.
Yes, that raw milk is so sweet, isn’t it? But I’ve got used to that sweetness now and I like it. However, I tried my fruit experiment this morning as the mango was finally ripe and ready. I cut it it up into tiny pieces which filled a whole bowl and I thought great, this will last me a week. I admired how nice and sunny it looked too. But I took one piece into my mouth and my body was disappointed. It was too sweet, one piece was enough and I didn’t fancy any more. My body appears not to want sweet fruit. Perhaps it’ll like berries better when in season. I might try that. If the body says no to those too, I’ll accept it has changed and that it wants to remain carnivore/ketowore.

Oh my, another reason I should be all jealous about UK prices. I already knew about your cheap butter… :frowning:

Oh, you will figure this out then
Tell me about the lamb liver when you try it! Never had any but I plan to. When I figure out where to buy some. I know a place but it’s a bit too far. Not a bad trip, we went there before (in our richer and motorbike riding times) but we don’t want to go there nowadays…

And yep, milk is quite sweet for me now. My sweet perception changed a lot after I cut out sugar and then it stayed there for many years. And after I tried out carnivore, it changed again and apparently it changed again… 1 year ago I only felt lactose free milk this sweet… So this change may be not finished yet.
I like (not overly) sweet milk, it suits it. I dislike sweet meat (liver is a tad different, it’s its natural sweetness) and sweet savory dishes in general so onion almost completely disappeared from my diet (it’s still lovely pickled but not fried in scrambled eggs, I used it with chicken liver too as it’s traditional… it would bother me now or I would need to use a tiny amount. my stews get diminishing amount of onion, they require some but maybe I will try them without…? not like I often have stews).

Berries are often way more tart and less sweet than mangos, mangos are VERY sweet even though the flavor is amazing and there is JUICINESS. I love juiciness but I have not particularly sweet vegs for it. Well, my SO has and I eat a slice or two sometimes
Even when sweet, fruits are refreshing to me. But sweet ones should be eaten in moderation and I mean really tiny amounts. Like 2 sour cherries, they are usually very sweet just sour too (not always but I dislike those), one of my biggest favs.
Non-sweet ones should be eaten in moderation too, though, as I think about it

Hi Shinita, I tried the lamb mince for my second meal today, made a few patties, was very nice, no grizzle in the meat at all, have always loved the taste and smell of lamb. Yes, will let you know what I think when I’ve tried the lamb liver when I have it.:slightly_smiling_face:
