so you swallowed the hall thing and you could not tell it has sugar?
Burger King Iced Tea NOT Friendly 😢😡😡
I get it. Totally get it. We hate to be blindsided! It feels like being lied to. Even though we know we have to be vigilant, we cling to the hope that we can trust others. It is that “But I trusted you. Why are you doing this to me!?” feeling. When it happens, we just want went to vent! Glad you got back on track quickly.
I haven’t been to a Burger King in probably close to a decade. But most of the restaurants around here have two tea jugs, side by side, one with “sweet” and one with “unsweet” in big letters on the side.
I’ll sometimes do unsweet tea but I’m not a big fan. If they have water and some wedges of lemon, I’m pretty contented with that… well, unless they have coffee. (And for that, I typically bring my own stevia.)
Here in Texas, it’s awful, too. You used to have to specify “sweet”, now you have to clearly say UNSWEETENED lol. And usually more than once.
“have it your way” -ask for it. If they won’t take that order, tell them you want a double cheeseburger, no bun, extra lettuce and pickles - they won’t charge you for the extra lettuce and pickles. (at least they don’t here).
They really should do a better job of letting people know whether it’s going to be sweet or not, and what’s in it.
But yes - lots of sugar. It takes a lot to make cold stuff taste sweet - a half gallon of ice cream usually has 220+ grams of sugar.
If you are south of the Mason Dixon line, any tea is suspect. That includes states like Texas and now even in Colorado. Sweet tea is the standard these days. And workers paid such low wages are not too picky about how they do their job.
That is why I just drink water if I am not sure a place brews their own plain black tea. At least you took care of it with the rest of your day. Sorry this happened, but lesson learned!
Same here in Northern CA…except that its not clearly labeled. I had been having water all morning, and wanted something different. When I talked to hubby about it he said that he’s had issues with the tea not being clearly labeled in the past.
They should be embarrassed and forced to pay some retribution (charity, community service by the board of directors?) but nobody deserves $5 million over that, nor do the lawyers deserve their cut.
False advertising - yes - but nobody was harmed or suffered emotional trauma over eating them.
I’d say any cold beverage other than water will have sugar unless specified otherwise. Even iced coffee, some places automatically add simple syrup unless you say not to. Anything out of a dispenser other than soda water I just won’t do anymore.
One time I ordered specifically unsweetened ice tea at Dunkin. Checked it before leaving and it wasn’t. So the jerk I am took it back with receipt listing UNsweetened said you could have killed a diabetic with this. They were horrified and replaced it as well as offered a gift card to come back. They were so apologetic. Sure it probably wouldn’t, but at least they will be more careful moving forward. Their faces were priceless. Did I mention I am a jerk? Lol.
Hoping tomorrow is a better day, numbers-wise.
Before supper numbers were: BG 98, BK 0.7
Not really sure why so high on BG. The only thing I had consumed was MCT oil earlier in the day. It could still be reflective of my mess-up on Friday.
Tonight’s macros, includes 4tbsp MCT oil
Advocating for yourself and others does not make you a jerk.
Your statement to them was true! (and you might have saved them a HUGE lawsuit).
