What is that?
Bloodsugar vs ketones
Blood testing is the most accurate way so you’re doing things right. I honestly think you just need to carry on as you are and have a bit more patience with yourself <3
I was asking how you are measuring ketones not blood glucose. I am sorry if there was some confusion. I do not know if there is any other way to measure blood glucose other than using a blood meter but there are a variety of ways of checking ketones. The most accurate being with the blood meter.
I have stopped checking my blood sugars but when I was, I would consistently get a higher reading first thing in the morning in a fasted state. Similar to your readings. After a lot of research I discovered a thing called pathological insulin resistance which basically means that your body has down regulated the production of insulin. We need glucose that is produced through the process of gluconeogenisis for ‘waking’. Because insulin is down regulated, the small amount of glucose is detected with testing. What is a more accurate measure is a A1c. If this is normal, then the morning fasting glucose is not an issue.
It is a blood test that your doctor can order for you. "The A1C test is a blood test that provides information about a person’s average levels of blood glucose, also called blood sugar, over the past 3 months. The A1C test is sometimes called the hemoglobin A1c, HbA1c, or glycohemoglobin test. "
Aha ok, here in Sweden it´s most unlikely that your doctor would do any test on you if you are not sick so, that can´t be done here. But it would sure be interesting. I´ve heard about the morning phenomenon that your bloodsugar can rise and that is because of cortisollevels wanting to wake you up. Is that correct?
I am surprised that Sweden would not include this in an annual visit at least every few years. Maybe you could ask for one. It is a useful thing to have even as a baseline. Here is a link to a blogger (a favorite of mine) who can explain it better than I can.
The A1c test is sold as a DIY kit in the US. I dunno if it is available in other countries. Maybe try Amazon?
You could always pop along to the docs and say you have been getting up in the night peeing a lot if you are desperate for an HbA1c.
Or get one privately.
