Big Black, Keto and Proud

@carl. Just listened to the latest podcast and was excited to hear that you used my review on iTunes in the “MAIL” segment. I was the “body/powerlifter”. Lastly, a good friend and fellow military veteran of mine just texted me this morning to let me know that he was just diagnosed with T2 yesterday. He had been following my posts on FB as I shared your podcasts, recipes, and my story and know that what you are doing helps as because of you guys and others in the keto community and as we share our stories more people are getting the help that they need. Keep calm and keto on. @richard

Thanks for the fine review.

Sorry to hear about your friends diagnosis … but you know how to help him. We can do something about type 2 diabetes and the earlier the better.

We are on it and I will drop a note to let you know how it goes.

Outstanding - this is why Carl and I do what we do, so listeners can pay it forward by helping their friends and loved ones avoid the complications of Diabetes.

Amen my friend! Also a lot of our pastoral and leadership in our church are getting in board. I’ll keep you guys posted on how that goes but since I’m an elder and youth leader everyone is noticing and asking questions. As a Christian I say that you @richard and @carl and the rest of the keto community is a God send. KCKO!

Hi Ron, I keep finding different threads each day as I browse this forum. It’s my daily dose and reminder to keep ketoing on. I’m wondering what further progress you have noticed for yourself and if you managed to get your friend converted to keto.

(Ron D. Garrett) #47

He is slowly getting there. His wife is converting and I surmise that he will too as she is the cook and he doesn’t cook at all :joy:. Being a former powerlifter I came along slowly too so I’m sure he will. I haven’t been crazy in talking to him about it either. Whenever he asks me a question this forum has all the resources that I need to give him info so I love it.

Thank you and be blessed!

I definitely see a racial aspect to this, as my best friend and I EACH have two diabetic parents.

I think Keto is a harder sell among us because we have more insulin issues. We can’t even imagine having control over food.

I’ve never been able to eat in moderation, even as a very thin sprinter. I could avoid food all day, but put something carby in front of me and forget it.

Same here! I was a bodybuilder and I was the same

My friend and I have known each other from the age of six. Among our siblings we have the heart attacks, cancer, fibroids, blood pressure, and big bellies that stem from these insulin issues.

That’s not even including the aunts uncles and cousins. I am desperate to help someone. But, apparently I am overbearing about it. :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

I sympathize with you smh

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #52

Yeah, because you just happened to mention it in passing . . . I know the type! Just eating a burger without the bun constitutes ramming keto down their throats, in some people’s view. KCKO, and God bless.

It’s hard to watch generations go through the same issues, when I think I have the cheat code!!!
