89 lbs seems low but for me, not only am I short but I have more fat than muscle, so my weight tends to be on the lower side unless I weight train. You can always test for leptin, but I never did. Once I was used to refeeding I could immediately tell when my leptin was low. I would feel excruciatingly hungry and very weak no matter what I did. I would be so weak that I’d kneel down to pick something up off the floor and I couldn’t lift myself back up again. I always did dirty refeeds with junk food and it always worked for me. Just keep in mind that I was heavy on the exercise. Doing HIIT and weight training religiously every week.
Been 8 months-lost 8 pounds and then flatlined
And this is a great example of why we have to remember the N=1 exists for a VERY GOOD REASON.
Well I ate crap today, we had small house party at our home, I never eat bad food no matter what party or not. But today I just used it as excuse of refeed I hope it works for me too.not feeling well though eating so much carbs that I did not even enjoy. Let’s se what happens
I understand the concept of carb cycling and refeeding but I think it would be better to recommend healthy carbs if someone with food relationship issues is planning on giving this a try. It could potentially lead to a restrict/binge cycle which nobody wants. I suggest planning a refeed in advance with food that can benefit you so that you aren’t tempted and like you said, using it as an excuse to eat junk food and feel bad afterward. You may have better luck with higher carb fruit/veg and low glycemic index grains.
I personally eat carbs on occasion but realize it adds another element to my thought process and i have to be very careful about the choices I make and how often it happens. I’ve done a keto diet in the past and those few off plan meals became more and more frequent until I was mostly eating a carb based diet and sometimes eating keto. Good luck!
Thanks for mentioning this, because I did have that issue for a couple of months. I felt like because it was my time to feed, I had to basically “get it all in” while I could and would binge horribly. Being low on leptin also contributed to this because I wouldn’t ever feel full. The amount of exercise I did allowed me to get away with the amount I ate on top of being very lean. However, I did find that refeeding with “healthier” carbs made no difference with my cravings. The leaner I got I found it harder and harder to get enough carbs in with one meal in order to accomplish my goal, so I had to extend it to an entire day and then 2 in a row for me to see further weight loss, and ultimately that’s what eliminated my binges. I definitely don’t want those new to keto or those lacking sufficient exercise or who are at a higher BFP to do refeeding… it’s not the right time and will likely not see the results you’re supposed to.
