From what I understand Australian Pork contains no nasties in it, and so although it costs, maybe, a little more its well checked and is up to strict health standards. Imported pork “could” maybe contain nasties and so these imports must be processed according to Au regulations. So it typically is processed into bacon etc, where the meat has gone through some processing to make it into a product which would kill nasties. Aussie pork is typically fresh pork, roasts, chops etc since they are being cooked at home its possible to undercook it, but with Aussie pork its completely clear of nasties anyway.
