Oven temp was the first thing I thought of when I read your post. I bought an oven thermometer quite a while back and found out my oven runs quite a bit hotter than the temp it’s set. I have no problems now that I know I have to set the temp lower than called for in a recipe.

If your oven runs hot, your crust will cook/brown before the inside is done.
