I personally don’t feel like I want to lose a lot of weight, even with my doctor being more interested in the BMI chart than body composition. I am willing to allow my body make the decision on weight. As long as I am losing the fat and inches from my belly, waist, and upper thighs. I am happy
Advice please-
It depends a lot on genetics too. Not everyone can get fab looking abs… For many it’s not realistic.
Do lots of veg tend to kick you out of keto? I have always eaten loads so when l started the keto diet i cut back and avoid the starchy ones, but worry that l am still eating too many. Any ideas?
I haven’t checked my ketones once, as long as I am seeing positive results then that is all that matters to me. I am slowly losing slowly losing inches where the need to and my weight is very slowly decreasing. I have taken to heart what I read before starting keto, throw the scales out and just monitor the results by body measurements. I didn’t throw the scales out but I don’t pay attention to them either.
Thanks. Yes the just removing the fat is a plus in it self. Apparently everyone’s abs are there you just have to let them show. Wishful thinking hey. I like the idea that my Body is using all the stored fat around my organs rather than what I would look like aesthetically but it would be a plus to get my mid 20s body back.
Yes, lots of vegs have lots of carbs. Unless you use super low-carb ones or have some other definition of “lots” than me.
I ate much vegs on low-carb so I had to seriously cut the amount when I went to keto… I realized that raw vegs feel/seem more so I used them more, banned some dishes like fried cauliflower as I couldn’t eat little enough for keto…
Well track and you will see. I had to track on keto all the time, mostly due to my vegs.
Now I barely touch vegs even on my wildest off days… It’s amazing how much one can change.
You are highly likely to shed some excess fat, which will definitely improve your body composition. The point about losing “weight” is that muscles and bone density can be lost on certain diets, whereas some people on a ketogenic diet find their bodies spontaneously adding muscle and bone density on keto, even when they have lost excess fat (and of course other people have to work for such gains). That’s why I always make a point of writing “fat-loss” as opposed to “weight-loss.”
Some people do say that, yes. Their point is that shedding the subcutaneous fat over the abdomen reveals the muscles that are already there, and if you don’t shed the fat, building up the muscles isn’t going to make your six-pack any more obvious, because there’s still fat obscuring the view.
Of course, losing the fat and building more muscle will look even better, lol!
I only eat the very low carb ones but am loathe to cut down too much as l love all veg so much! However, maybe that is the next step - just a few less! Usually over half my plate is veg.
That may be fine and it says about nothing about your vegetable carb intake anyway… If you track it for a normal day, you can see how much it is. And you may wonder if it’s good to reduce it. It’s not simple as we have different limits for ketosis and some of us (like me) feels way better when I am way below this limit (at least if I have non-animal carbs, it doesn’t seem to matter on carnivore but I didn’t do extensive tests yet) while others are fine just in ketosis and some people even feels better with more carbs…
If you’re eating more than you’re burning, yes.
There’s a red flag!
Do you track what you’re eating as a whole? If so what are you averaging daily for Total Cals, Proteins, Fats and Carbs? Do you work out? Sedentary?
If you don’t know any of that, everything you come up with is a blind guess. When you want to troubleshoot a problem, you need data to go on.
While I do track my calories, carbs, protein and fat. I am eating at least 30% more calories on keto than on a standard diet and losing weight while on the standard diet I was gaining weight, and my activity level hasn’t changed.
Calories matter, but so do where they come from! Macro manipulation can drastically change the outcome. Ultimately you have to be at a deficit to lose, but many times you think you’re at one, but the crap you eat is just forcing you to store everything instead of burning it.
I have never been someone to eat fast food or highly processed food. My food demon seems to be anything wheat, whole corn doesn’t bother me nor does baked or roasted potatoes. But to be safe I am not eating anything grain, or potatoes. For now. I don’t know yet about rice, or oats. The key at least for me is bread and that even includes whole grain bread.
