Mobile app is available

I’m using the new mobile app for Android that the team at @discourse have just built and deployed to the Android and Apple stores

How do we get notifications?

Using the Apple iPad version is there a way of getting it to remember the username and password. Just tired of having to type in my username and password.

Android works fine but that’s because it redirects to chrome.

Is that the same one I tried last week? It only had like 100 downloads and is just called Discourse.

I like the notifications window and that you can link multiple forums, but the default page view is a webapp window. It doesn’t allow tabs or the other options you get in Chrome. Very similar to the Chrome home screen icon in that regard.

What is the title of the mobile app? Did not find it under “ketogenic forums” @ the playstore

#5

I’m assuming it’s this one at the Play Store:

How do I find the forum on the app? It doesn’t come up when I search for it.

#7

I copied the forum url into it. https://www.ketogenicforums.com

(Richard Morris) #8

yeah ketogenicforums.com doesn’t work you need the full www.

Thanks! Got it!

Hello all,

Liking the look of the forum (although the FB group kept keto ideas in my face regularly - I worry I’ll miss out by having to switch apps and specifically seek out keto topics outside of my usual FB surfing, we’ll see!)

Been on the FB group for months and just joined here. I didn’t have an invite so I think I’m visitor status and I think that prevents me from using the mobile app… when I click “connect” in the mobile app, I get a message “Authorize application access; Sorry you do not have the required trust level to access the user API” IF this is by design, then it wasn’t called out in the “trust levels” post so you may want to highlight what someone needs to do to get mobile app access in that trust level post. I suspect I need to get out of visitor status to get mobile access?

as a point of feedback: personally, I nearly never use FB on desktop, so all my keto group following has been mobile. a Mobile app is table-stakes for me to get the most out of the forum regularly, and I worry I’ll miss out on too much if it’s a desktop-only experience…

Ahhh thanks James that might be a bug

@carl and I will look into it

Just downloaded. Outside of notifications, it just seems to take me to a safari page of the forum. Is that correct? Is there a reason the app is preferred? Or just for the notifications?

#13

Just for the notifications, as far as I could tell. But I’m on Android. I prefer to just use the regular browser because that allows me to utilize tabs.

Does anyone know how to address this error message in iOS 10.2?

 "Authorize application access
Sorry, you do not have the required trust level to access the user API"

I’ve read about enterprise apps requiring authorization under general>profiles or profiles and device management. However, I’m not seeing that in settings on my iPad.

Thanks!

Marty

I think its cause you are still at trust level 0. I will check with the admins and get back you.

@RedV

Made a quick change so you are a guinea pig. Can you try again please.

(carl) #17

Did you try it in a mobile browser? It’s quite good

(James van Kessel) #18

I haven’t - just getting started… I’m hoping the app gives a quick way to skim new updates and get notifications. not sure if the mobile browser experience provides the same…

anyways, I now have app access as I’ve reached “basic” trust. Time to dive into the app…

(Marty ) #19

That seems to have done it sir. Thanks Matt!

(Larry Lustig) #20

It does. I haven’t been tempted to try the app.
