I get Monarchs in my garden and I kill off all milk weed plants. I have other flowers and bushes that work great for attracting them. Not sure why milk weed gets all the attention for attracting them.
I think butterflies are well within the realm of wildlife. Not to many people brag about their domesticated butterflies, that can do tricks. And they can survive without us opening cans and packages to feed them. So yea, they seem like wildlife to me.
